RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition)

PS3 RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition) Beta 4

@Crystal and @aldostools Because I was unhappy with the current Icon and Background of Retroarch CE, I spent some hours redesigning it. Inspired by their original version and website I created something that translates the nostalgia from the 80's, classic game studios, Sony PVM Trinitron and CRT into it's new design.

If you guys like it, I give you permission to use it in a repack or in a next version. No credit needed.
Inside the ZIP there are all resources that I needed to achieve the final product, including the original PSD.

I'm sharing with you guys this new ICON and BACKGROUND, have fun.

Edit: Now the ICON and BG (without the PSD) is attached here.

My best regards,
Lambada.

Guys, after creating this art above for our Retroarch CE, I read that @Crystal wanted to include a background music but it didn't work.

So I read this tutorial here to understand how to create a BGM file for Retroarch.
Then I got the chiptune that he wanted to include and started to work (spoiler: it worked!).

I edited in Audacity and I played around with the Stereo Sound, I made some effects so some beats begin in the left and then goes to the right and I created a loop (then I discovered it doesn't loop in XMB, lol). It was my first time editing in Audacity.

As I told you guys before, @aldostools , if you want to include this SND0.AT3 in your next Unofficial Retroarch CE pack, be my guest. BTW, nice music, @Crystal !

1) Here is the project file if someone wants to play with it:
https://mega.nz/file/jEYTUJwB#xceEMdyjeGlP1NBOuh3KOlZmmWugHCBS5dJKh5gJEgo

2) The SND0.AT3 ( just upload through Filezilla to your PS3 FTP, inside Retroarch folder, next to the PARAM.SFO):
https://mega.nz/file/iUpAyZoI#0oAH4IaHNBPIxGRwc7xz4QnYGyb6Nc9q3tTgj_xkzbA

3) The audio preview so you can listen before downloading the rest:

I will also attach the AT3 file to this post.

Best Regards,
Lambada (elsewhere aka Zoukambada)

EDIT: Updated the SND0.AT3 attachament with the loop fixed! Redownload and replace the file!
I like the background alot, nice work and thanks for the share.

If anyone wants an animated icon (ICON1.PAM) of your favorite game @Redemp made a huge collection years ago.

@Crystal

The pcsx-reARMed core has been ported to Wii. Would it be possible to add this to PS3, even if Dynarec support came later? I ask because I know they are both Big Endian PPC.

@Lambada

I respectfully disagree about the current background on Retroarch CE. I happen to like it.
Though I am not attacking your redesign.

No hard feelings. Taste is taste, I was just sharing. ;)

I had my reasons to create my own image.
I loved the original idea of a collage in the current distributed background, but it has characters that aren't available in any console in Retroarch, like Superboy, Shinji from Evangelion and some random hentai girls for example, it didn't make sense to me. Also the background is so crowded that I barely could read the text in my XMB, because of this I prefered a clean and organized one, that would look like an official app from PSN.

You should know, designers are designers. Usually we prefer simple images that synthetize the overall concept of a piece.
As we have a keen eye for details, we tend to judge (silently) every design or art, that's why we are more selective. Designers are creative but annoying beings. That's me, LOL. :quartet:

I understand.

I mainly like the CE background for the girly pics. Which is something modern sony hates with the censorstation 4 & 5.

i dig both designs..would be neat to be able to choose which you want in settings..

any other themes avail yet? ozone template user here but more options and layouts are nice
cheers

Hello, I am having issues with achievements. I am playing Shadowrun, and while it shows I am logged in and achievements are available, they are not popping. The ROM is correct and I can gain achievements for other games. Does anyone else know why this is?

I think the ps3 needs a way to upscale psx games
Better than that and more simple, PSX needs a way to apply a scanlines effect so 2D games look better in LCD/LED screens.

Maybe the Emulator/Core isn't compatible? Try another one.

I've tried every one available to be downloaded from the Retroarch app. I'm kind of at a loss here

I would like to create some packages with some arcade fighting games and Retroarch CE .
Anyone could provide some steps to take ? For MK need "Mame 2003 Midway" and for Street Fighter 2 CE what should i use ?

hello again all

with retroarch how do you change controls in a mame arcade game/s like for disks of tron i want to be able to move the target but cant seem to but i know old versions of retroarch you could adjust controls but if you screwed some things up in there you could be doomed getting things back to normal lol
so looking for smart ways of doing things without rearranging things..

thanks

Did anyone tried to load original PSP, PSX, PS2 emulator '.self' in retroarch? Could it be possible to use any of those original s#ny's emulators in that way and use 'cg_shaders' in games?

Thank you, it's just an idea... it would be amazing if something like that could be done.

Many ps3 games are using lua scripts, is it possible to use those in retroarch? Like puting them in same folder and with same name... eg. 'smw.smc' and 'smw.lua'...

Can someone help me please? I'm obviously doing something wrong! Last night i tried to play Neo Geo gems with no luck. I downloaded uni-bios. Renamed it to uni-bios_4_0.rom and pack it into zip file. The zip i renamed to neogeo.zip and placed it in retroarch's 'system' and '...system/fbneo' folder. Then i put it in 'hdd0/ROMS/NEOGEO' and there i place my six gems in zip format.
I open retroarch and go to manual scan, select 'hdd0/ROMS/NEOGEO/
There i select dat file i downloaded from libretro's github and start scan. It takes about few seconds. Then i have NeoGeo playlist when i go back and i can select games to play but i got an error on fbneo about missing romsets. And on fbalpha 2012 it exits back to rgui.

I tried with clrmamepro on pc. And the errors are the same when i copy rebuilded roms folder on my ps3.

What am I missing?
