PS3 Screen tearing - PS2 480p games on BC PS3

I just wanted to share my findings for this issue I've been having for a while with some games.

The system is a BC PS3, CECHB00 model running Evilnat CFW 4.92.
All games were ran on ps2_emu, which uses the ps2 hardware on the motherboard and can also display system temp.
Webman mod was used to launch the ISOs.
The PS3 is connected to my Samsung 4k TV from 2017 with a HDMI cable and Game Mode activated.

The following games had screen tearing *ONLY* when activating progressive scan 480p mode using the Triangle+X button combo when the Playstation 2 logo appears after launching the game.
Launching the games *without* progressive scan enabled had no issues with screen tearing.

Capcom Fighting Evolution (NTSC-U)
SNK Vs Capcom: Chaos (NTSC-J)
King of Fighters 2002 (NTSC-U)
King of Fighters 2003 (NTSC-U)

After messing with display settings on both the TV and the PS3, nothing fixed the issue.
Lastly, I enabled PS/PS2 upscaler from the system settings, and that took care of the issue. The screen tearing was eliminated on all of the games.
Normally this setting will upscale the games from 480p to 720p/1080p, but with progressive scan enabled, the games are displayed in 480p. This is verified by my TV and the resolution mode that it switches to based on the source.

However, not all games will have screen tearing when ran in 480p progressive scan with the upscaler disabled.
King of Fighters 98 UM and KoF 2002 UM were perfect. Yes, I love fighting games :cool2:

TLDR: If you experience screen tearing on PS2 games with 480p progressive scan mode enabled, turn on the PS/PS2 upscaler.
