Servere problem on my PS3.

Lately cetrain games have been suffering from issuess in where the game stops being read from the disc after some time. One game fails to boot at all, one gets stuck in 78%, and one goes into a black screen when I press OK at a screen. This happened in August 15h, 2020 when WWE 2K14 froze during me creating a character. Then I got errors about trophies which were solved by me restarting my system. This was when the game had disc issues and wouldn't read any further. I deleted my game data, rebuild database, cleaned the BluRay drive by holding down the eject button for 10 seconds, restored my file system, deleted my trophy files and rebuild database again, and even clean the CD's, but still I get problems. Any fixes for this issue?

see if playstation 1 games work or if you have a bc system, ps2. dvds and music cds too. it could be the laser. I don't know enough about the inner workings of the ps3 drive, but there are voltage meters for psx and ps2 games on a ps2, so if discs aren't working, sometimes you have to adjust those.

Could be hdd issue. Could be starting to fail. Try running a scan on it. Just don't let windows initialize the drive.

PS1 and PS2 read just fine on the system.

Update: I cleaned the disc really good this time, and the game is now reading. It was freaking out because of fingerprints all over the disc. Thanks for the help.

The problems you mentioned indicates the laser is getting old, think in it this way:
The optical discs stores some data for "error correction", is used to recover unreadable data
For the game to work is needed to have a reading accuracy of 85% or bigger
And lets say... the fingerprints are reducing the reading accuracy in 10%
if you insert that dirty disc in a console with a new laser (100% perfect), then the game is going to work fine because the accuracy is 90% (100% from the laser that works nice - 10% from the fingerprints)

But if your laser is old his accuracy could be 85% (im just throwing a random number)... with the -10% from the fingerprints makes a total of 75%, and thats not enought, so the game doesnt works

----------------
In plain words... when a laser gets old it becomes very sensitive to the fingerprints/scratches. You will know you are at that point because it happens with a lot of different discs

Of course everything depends of how much dirty is the disc surface, if the dirty was a lot then maybe the laser is not so bad
Anway... keep in mind what i mentioned before... a new laser is able to read dirty discs without problems (and even scratched, incase the scratch is not so deep)

Moral of the story... most probably in some time (months) you are going to have the same problems again and you should start thinking in buying a new laser
