1- Login to PSN without enabling HEN. You should be able to activate your console on PSN (if it is not banned).
Create the folder packages in the root directory of the USB drive.
The name must be all letters in lowercase. The packages can be placed also in the root directory of the USB drive.
i was sure that i have always used all uppercase. so i just tested both just now to be certain and they both work.letters in lowercase
It should probably be mentioned that fake activation can only be used for installing backups. If you actually want to download games from the PS3 store you need a real activation. You have various options to activate your console:
1- Login to PSN without enabling HEN. You should be able to activate your console on PSN (if it is not banned).
2- If HEN was enabled, you can reboot and do the option 1. Or disable the CFW syscalls before log into PSN to activate the console.
3- Create a new user, enable HEN and create a fake activation (act.dat) using Apollo Save Tool
If you already have a PSN account, I always recommend to create a new account to play using HEN or CFW. That ways you don't lose the purchases in your main account if your console or account is banned.

on hen i usually get pkgs listed twice. weird but not a big issue.
i think you may be right!I wonder if it's working because the short name is stored in uppercase.
You'll have to call customer service to reset your password like normal. They'll probably ask some questions to disable the 4-digit 2sv password. Don't tell them you hacked your ps3
Is that the only possible way?
I apologize. I thought the 4-digit password was some sort of PSN 2-step verification. It looks like it's parental controls, which would either forbid some content level in games or Internet access. In your case it's "internet access" I'm assuming? The CFW is on the motherboard not the hard drive, so if you restore factory settings or even format the hard drive that won't matter. Although, PS3Hen is HFW as far as I'm aware so you probably should double-check with someone else before proceeding.
Ah, I'm on a 3000a slimThis forum post might help you:

Looks like NAND ps3 models aren't affected by this, but NOR models you will have to reinstall CFW
well, thank you guys, but I managed to finally stumble on the passcode. Problem is, Webman is giving me an 80010017 error. I have multiman installed too, so is that giving Webman grief or is something else the problem. This forum post might help you:
