Hello, I am new to PS3 modding, so I might not know a lot, but I will try my best. Today I tried the syscon error logging thingy, following Felix's tutorial. I have a CECHG04 (or something similar, its a G model tho) and the motherboard is a SEM-001 ; 1-875-384-31. I got a USB to TTL adapter, the CP2102, but it only has 3V3, TXD, RXD, GND, and +5V. TX has been connected to TXD, RX to RXD, and for GND I made it ground to the side of the motherboard, clipping it. Then I did the external mullion, and it worked perfectly, but now it was time for external mode. I removed ground from GND and put DIAG in, tried it and I get scoped error. I've heard this can happen if there's no ground connected to it. Then I disconnected it and tried ground to GND again, with no DIAG, still scoped error (ofc I didn't expect anything since I need diag). Then I tried grounding through 3V3, console wouldnt turn on and pc wouldnt detect the adapter. I removed it, and ps3 turned on and PC detected it (PS3 still beeps and all, hopefully I didn't damage it though). I checked tutorials and none have this type of adapter, everyone has an adapter with more grounds. I also checked guides where their motherboards have GND able to solder, but I cant find it on mine. What could I do instead? Thank you!
SOLVED:
So what I did was get a Male-Female jumper wire, connect the Male to the Female of DIAG, then cut the Female part and ground that to the side of the motherboard. Then I connected a jumper wire to GND on the adaptor and grounded that as well, using those little claw tools for both jumper wires.
Made It work, and discovered I have a ton of 1002 errors, but I got the YLOD on this PS3 after a lightning strike, so it could also be the RSX.
