Hi there. I'm new on this forum and signed in just because thank you all I successfully installed FMCB on my PS2 card.
So what's my problem? I bought this PS2 on eBay after a very long research. Found this amazing guy in my country selling a perfect PS2. Without modchip, never opened (infact there still is the warranty seal on the back near ethernet port) in perfect estetic condition, with an original memory of 8mb and all the other original accessory. The PS2 arrived even with two original games (The Godfather and Smuggler's Run). Before softmod my PS2 I played for hours and hours to these two games without any problems and can still play to these without any kind of problems.
After revived my old computer with a perfectly working CD/DVD burner I decided to do some research on how to mod my PS2. Instantly removed from the choises any modchip. I have the capabilities and the instruments to do it but I wanted to not open the console and left it like new total original. FreeDVDBoot...a miracle. In 10 minutes I installed FreeMCBoot 1.966 with ESR r10f (everything downloaded on this forum...thanks guys!!!). The first ever game I burned was GTA Vice city Stories. Patched with ESR guy and burned. That copy still works today and never had problems (three months of gaming are passed). With some other games I had problems...GTA SA for example burned two times at slowest speed didn't work properly. If I entered in the house I couldn't go out because it won't load on both the copy I realized. Burned at max speed it works perfectly and never had any other problems. Need for Speed Most Wanted and Carbon both had the same problem...if I freeroam in the city or some races there were some piece of city and street that didn't appear and the game had to stop to load. Reburned them but somedays I have still this problem. With other games the problem is that seems like for a second or two or five that the game repeats itself, like the old vynils when they were scratched. But my DVDs, Verbatim 4.7gb 16x DVD-R, where I burned these problematic games are new without any scratch and GTA VCS after a lot of use is extremly scratched but it works perfectly. Like I said now the problem seems to came and go, not everyday. Some other games insted never had problems. The Godfather origina, is extremly scratched, worst than GTA VCS and works perfectly.
So what is the problem? Thought at some lens failure, but if this is true i shouldn't be able to play any disc I think. Thought about my burner, but i realized some copy with my laptop burner (never used it until some days ago) but even on that NFS copy, sometimes I encounter these problem. Any idea/help? Thanks.
