Swapped hdd, can't start multiman lost jailbrake?

So i have this ps3 slim 2500 runnin on 4.84 it had low storage so i bought a new hdd and swapped them using the backup utility via a yt video tutorial bcs i dont know much about ps3 software now the mistake i made was that i updated with the pup file from a official ps website so i guess im now on OFW and thats why mm wont start (code 80010017) do i have to jailbreak again or can i do something else?
 
As far as i know using backup utility doesn't grant you the ability to lose your CFW, if you are on CFW.

Just reinstall Multiman, and everything should be in working order.

Usually i don't use the Backup Utility, but rather the HDD Exchange Utility in the Debug Settings, its much more reliable than Backup Utility.

So i just looked up a tutorial on how to install mm and saw that i need a package installer which i dont have and he said in order to get one i need to be jailbroken does this mean im not? Or is there another way to install mm? Also im a newie so go easy on me
 
The problem is in the PS3 models with NOR flash (most of them), if you format or replace the hdd the PS3 asks you to install a firmware PUP
So... if at that point you install that PUP you are replacing the firmware, and incase you installed an OFW yeah... you are back at step one

You are lucky that exists that HFW's that allows to be installed over an OFW (and then use the web browser exploit to hack it)
Today has been published a 4.85 HFW... but i suggest to follow the tutorials for 4.84


Lets say... if you install 4.85 HFW today you are not going to be able to join the party inmediatlly... you will have to wait some days anyway for other stuff to bre released with compatibility with 4.85

If you don't have Package Installer, then you have a OFW and not a CFW, this is why i prefer to use HDD Exchange Utility, it preserves the CFW by cloning the drive on his entirety.

If you installed CFW via PS3Xploit method, just grab any CFW of your choice and install it through safe mode, since your NOR its already flashed.

Could you link me a tutorial bcs i dont know what nor is or how to go into safe mode? Im quite a newbie
 
Is the same procedure you did before, when you installed the previous firmware
We cant give you a straight answer because you are not telling if you had a CFW or HEN

The thing is i didnt jailbreak the first time i bought it already jailbroken, anyway i just now managed to install HFW properly but i cant install mm because its not CFW (?) can u give me a equivalent program or can i somehow install mm im used to that
