Developer Joonie gave me the heads up about team Rebug's latest custom firmwares to hit the PlayStation scene. The most anticipated CFW has finally been made public for all to enjoy. Below you will find all the details pertaining to the release of Rebug 4.75.1 D-REX and REX Cobra 7.1 editions as well as their updated Toolbox. [break].[/break]Lets take a look.

REBUG TOOLBOX

Rebug Toolbox is application designed to complete the full function of REBUG REX EDITION firmwares. Besides from performing the CEX/DEX EID0 and LV2 Kernel Swapping it is also an FTP server and is packed with a bunch of other useful tools.

INSTALL: 1: In the PS3 XMB go to Game menu 2: Select Package Manager 3: Select Install Package Files 4: Select PS3 Hard Disk 5: Select REBUG-TOOLBOX-02.xx.xx.pkg

REWRITE TARGET ID IN FLASH: *NEW METHOD SINCE 2.02.02 / 4.65.2* TOOLBOX can dump your EID ROOT KEY without old eid root key dumper that was used for 3.55 / 4.21 while back, because it has its bulit-in eid root key dumper integrated for both CEX/DEX mode on 4.75 CFW this is universal feature, and toolbox can ensure your conversion done in less than 5 mins top, if you dumped your root key via toolbox's utility tab, then toolbox will ask you if you'd like to continue flash-less auto conversion.

u can activate raps with ur normal profile. u don't need to be signed into the aa profile. plus, u can create a new profile named aa after activating a rap, then never have to rename anything again. not sure y ur getting a black screen. does it say unknwon cfw on the xmb? btw, what file system is on the usb(s) in question? if u can't get it to work, use rap2rif with ur act.dat, idps, and rap file.

Yes, it says unknown CFW on XMB beside the ReactPSN icon. The Usbs that I am using are Fat32. I will try that. Thank you.

 

I tried ReactPSN 3.20 before but there were issues. Ended up using ReactPSN 3.17 and it worked fine for me on CFW 3.70. I am updating to this in a bit give it a shot.

 

To active PS2 rebug launcher please use psnpatch instead of reactpsn. Is much easier and you don't need to create any profile.

4. Make sure to activate PS2 rap file for PS2 launcher "ONLY" if you have NON-BC PS3 models
*** If you do not care about "wire-less" sync issue while playing PS2 games with COBRA, forget about PS2 launcher, this is rather headache than a solution ***
- Forget about COBRA, just install PS2 classic pkgs and activate it

- You could just stick with wired-connections and directly launch PS2 games from a disc icon without a launcher

- Alternatively, you can buy a device like CRONUSMAX that allows even DualSHOCK 4 and XBOX ONE PAD wire-less connectivity while playing PS2 <- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Meaning your PS3 does NOT support PS2 playback natively due to $ONY's dirty plan to minimize the cost of production and at the same time to promote their new DRM type of business plan that was based on NPDRM contents with ECDSA protection

2. How does it allow PS2 on our unfortunate consoles?

COBRA takes care of this dirty protection and now it allows ISO files just like those Backward compatible PS3s.

You're one of the elite in the PS3 world, and your work is very appreciated, replying to posts in forums is going above and beyond, also appreciated. Also, thanks to everyone else who responded, will try again tomorrow with all your suggestions and will report back on what works, as I'm sure I can't be the only one with this problem, so maybe I can help someone else out.

 

Use reactpsn 3.17. I had issues with 3.20 ages ago too

Ok just to be clear, did you really install rebug 4.75.1 ?

Or reporting the issue from rebug 4.70.1 ? At this point I start to have doubts on your issue

As Joonie suggested, if you are having trouble with the PS2 stuff... why not try 4.70 Habib Starbucks Cobra V1.03 (he suggested trying a different Cobra CFW verison)? See if you can get it to work there. It's the exact same procedure as Rebug (well for the most part -- aside from some Rebug Toolbox settings). You have to have the encrypted PS2 ISO file in the Placeholder folder, you have to activate it with PSNpatch (or ReactPSN if you don't have an act.dat)... There is a lot to do to make this work wirelessly on non-BC units. Personally, I haven't tried the new Rebug 4.75 yet. But the PS2 stuff worked fine for me on both Rebug 4.70 and Habib 4.70 (cobra). Many times we just have to mess with this stuff on our own and figure it all out. Just know that if others are having the same problem where PS2 ISOs aren't working from Webman, there is no doubt we will chime in and let Joonie know -- otherwise, it's just something you are doing wrong, and you need to try other CFW to see if it's really a problem in Rebug 4.75 or not.
