PS3 Trouble to play PS2 games through HDMI

I cannot run PS1 or PS2 images through HDMI output as long as PSX/PS2 Upscaling is enabled. What happens is that for a brief moment I can see the game graphics and then right after the screen goes black with the TV showing "No video signal" information.

Playing with other settings like smoothing, HDMI Deep Colour, different resolution outputs seemed to have no impact. I also tried connecting my PC monitor to the console via HDMI cable - also with no result. QA flags are always enabled.

However when I use Bitfunx PS2 - HDMI adapter with YPbPr video output set in the console, everything works perfectly fine. I can then play PSX/PS2 games with PSX/PS2 Upscaling being enabled.

I have some PS1 and PS2 images placed on the hard drive of the console in their respective formats in PSX and PS2 directories. To launch these I'm using webMAN MOD 1.47.41 with lastest PS2CONFIG.

Maybe someone knows if there is any "trick" to make the console launch those images through HDMI with upscaling enabled?

This issue exists on my both consoles:
* CECHA01 with Evilnat 4.89
* CECHA12 with Rebug REX 4.84.2

I also tried with Rebug 4.81.2 with COBRA 7.50 on my CECHA01 also with no result.

Small update to the above.

I have tested it on CECHA01 and CECHA12
- Ratchet Clank (EU version), copied the disk image into the hard drive, QA flags enabled, launched with newest webmanmod
- Canis Canem Edit (EU version), copied the disk image into the hard drive, QA flags enabled, launched with newest webmanmod
with the following firmwares on diffent screens/TVs
- Evilnat 4.89.3
- Evilnat 4.89
- Rebug REX 4.84.2
- Rebug 4.81.2
and the results:
PSX/PS2 Upscaling is disabled + yPbPr output -> game runs perfectly fine
PSX/PS2 Upscaling is enabled + HDMI output -> Playstation logo then black screen

With upscaling enabled and HDMI output, once the game goes past Playstation logo and the black screen appears the system is definitely not hanging up - I can hold PS button for a while and blindly press up, x, left, x (open system menu and close the game), then the game closes, and the XMB shows up again.

I have tested it also on CECHC04, and there are no issues playing any PS2 with upscaling enabled via HDMI.

Could it have something to do that the HDMI controller from CECHA01/12 do not support pal games as they are meant for NTSC systems?

As part of the experiment I changed the region of my CECHA12 to Europe once installed Rebug REX 4.84.2 through debug options but that did not fix the problem.

There is one thing I forgot to mention. PS2 games that are from US (NTSC) play perfectly with upscaling enabled. Only PAL games show black screen after Playstation logo.

I am wondering if it should really matter if the console runs on CEX.

Maybe the TV doesn't support 720p and/or 1080p at 50Hz?

Odd, as I recently played SNK vs Capcom: Chaos (PAL) on my CECHB/A just fine with the game upscaled and output via hdmi.

You double checked your display settings on both the system and TV?

Yep, did that. Everything is as it should be. Basically I get no issues when playing NTSC games with upscaling on hdmi. The problem, completely black screen occurs when I play PAL games with upscaling on hdmi. Interestingly enough if I use yPbPr then I can play PAL games with upscaling on, but it's giving a bit worse video output as compared to HDMI.

May the TV doesn't support 720p and/or 1080p at 50Hz?

I plan to get some hdmi "normalizer" to see if it's gonna help. I'll come back to it once I get it.

Hello, I'm XDeltaOne and I'm happy to be here. I would have a question I also got a Cecha00 and wanted to play my Pal PS2 games. Now I noticed that for example Shadow Hearts 1 in current firmware does not work in Cex if I have activated the scaler from Sony and I tried it over CD. But now I noticed when I switch to Dex via Evilnat 4.91.2 Beta 2 Pex it works with 1080p Pal 50Hz. Also on Gran Turismo 4 and DBZ BT3/2 which I have in my Pal collection. Can someone help me if it is fixable by Evilnat maybe. I have Monster Hunter 2 Dos that Game works. Shadow Hearts 2 on the other hand what I'm playing works underbar in Cex mode with the Scaler.

AFAIK Nathan (EvilNat) already fixed that in the current beta version.

I know he has fixed it, I only mean if I set the upscaler to full screen it can happen in Pal games that picture disappears, but the game still goes, only the picture disappears.
