Hi All

i am revisiting one of my early "repairs" where i got the unit working but while trying to delid it i slipped and cut a RAM chip in half (i knocked off a few caps as well but i have fixed that part already...)

i have a donor board i pulled a chip off that had the same model RAM (with 3 extras if i need) but i cant find a BGA stensil for the K4Y50164UE-JCB3 Samsung chip anywhere :/

i can find lots of 10x10 (5x10 on each half of the chip) standard BGA Stensils but no 12x10 (6x10 on each half of the chip) which is what i need

anyone know what i should be looking for? it's getting quite frustrating...:/

also just out of curiosity... can i mix and match different RAM chip brands and types on one unit or replace them all with a different type pulled from another unit? im assuming it wont work but if anyone knows better it would make fixing another unit i have a bit easier because i dont have any donor RAM for it (its actually my donor board but i think i might be able to fix the BGA fault it had now i have a Reballing Machine)

Thanks
A

You can remove a ram chip with a heatgun. You need to apply heat from below and from above for several minutes, use good flux. If you don't know how you could watch it on youtube.

About the ram compatibility, I guess it could match if they are from the same size and bga diagram. To apply new bgas, just clean the chip and add them by hand using a microscope, then apply heat from above (15-12cm) and low air until bgas melt.

If you find this complicated, the best option would be buy another console, sadly.
