PS3 [TuT] How to sign in on OFW 4.81 or 4.82 & activate your system

So, i would let the system install the official update like normal, and can then continue on from there? Or, would i instead use the link near the bottom of that thread that says Download link (MEGA) : HFW_4.84.2_PS3UPDAT.PUP, and install that via my USB stick?

Sorry...i'm a bit paranoid about bricking my system, even though it's just been gathering dust in the closet...

Just download HFW firmware,rename it to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" and just install it.

Yeah, you can update to 4.84 official firmware first via 'Update via Internet' or just skip ahead and install the 4.84 HFW outright via USB (it is almost identical to OFW but with minor changes which allow the system to be exploited), there's no chance of a brick. You do need HFW in order to install HAN on 4.84.
