[TuT] Setting up PS2 PlaceHolder REBUG Edition (Controller Sync Fix for PS2 Games on nonBC Consoles

Yes clear my dev_flash2 and tried many controllers. This PS3 has always been problematic with PS2 ISO since Cobra 4.30 even using the dongle when Cobra still made CFW's.

delete the xregistry go to restore default settings , the screen will turn to blue and the ps3 will reboot
go directly to restore default settings and restore it

I have done that bud. This happens from time to time for me. Been a problem for a long time. After I format the HDD it works again for a while but eventually happens again, the "No Signal" from my HDTV. I haven't played a PS2 game on my PS3 in a very long time. Usually just use my chipped PS2 with HDMI @ 720p but was curious to try this.

EDIT

formatted HDD, swapped back to Cobra EMU not original, replaced classic and so forth and SUCCESS!!! Thanks guys a little less often I need to plug in my precious PS2.

Hey all -- here's my experience. I couldn't get any of my Sony Dualshock controllers to sync, even in the Classics mode..! They would work wired, but never would sync wireless. I went to Restore System Settings. I reset my audio to optical, etc... I let my newly synced controller connect wirelessly. Then here's the steps you have to do:
(1) Hit SELECT+L2+Triangle to ensure the the PS2_Classics file is enabled (triggers from Webman Mod -- Thanks Aldostools).
(2) With the controller now wireless, fire off the PS2_Classics that you have already set up from the other tutorials. It will run... and lo and behold, it synced wirelessly now! I never had to replug it in USB. I also tried to sync my 2nd and 3rd controllers, but they would NOT sync wirelessly. So much for two player PS2 games (wirelessly)!
(3) Quit game -- go back to XMB. Now hit the SELECT+L2+Triangle combo again to disable PS2 Classics.
(4) Run cMMan and mount the ps2 iso normally.
(5) Run from the PS2 Classics icon. Now the ISO that you mounted will run, and it will still sync wirelessly. Again, I was unable to get more than one controller to sync wirelessly, even in Classic mode.

Patched COBRA emu has a bug for multiple controllers, it only allows one controller for both Classic / ISO, this issue has been continued since original COBRA 7 / 4.46, and now with this work around, this causes serious problems for some users if they have cloned controllers or multiple controllers, sometimes it doesn't even sync at all for both ISO/Classic

if your plan is to play games with multiple players, please stick with original ps2 emu that's available for swap via REBUG TOOLBOX 2.02.02 _PS2 pkg,

and webMAN MOD auto delete/generate classic_ps2 without toggle, so you can just continue mounting PS2 Classic ISO.BIN.ENC files with webMAN and play games without any hassle

Sorry about the issue that you're experiencing, Habib and I are currently working on this issue.

Well I glad I finally got it working. I did try everyone's suggestions but after a format and restoring my registry and HDD it has been working without a hitch. Thanks guys!!

sometimes it doesn't even sync at all for both ISO/Classic

I got this problem.. 3 diffrent controllers (6axis, ds3, noname) and i can't go wireless on cobra netemu. Maybe restoring setting or format hdd help. Too many important data to make this steps.

BTW. I don't check cobra source, so i can go wrong here. But ps2_netemu is not reverse enginered? Is only patched elf ,that why is hard to fix sync bug? i never downloaded cobra source (i'm not dev, no reason to download). But i found something that maybe can help somehow (or not, but is interesing). When on i'm on cobra emu, and start ps2classic that i make in PS2 Classics GUI 2.0 pad still don't work but also game show that memory card is not inserted. On original emu i have memory card in game.

I found on cobra emu, only memory card maked in xmb memory card tool (not sure is good name, i dont use english menu), and assigned to port 1 is visible. Even on my original classics from PSN. But on original emu i have diffrent option in xmb (save games (ps2) or something like this) and every classic game use diffrent card/save assigned only to one game. And one more time, cobra emu dont see this card/saves.

Some part of cobra emu is "hard coded" to use only memory card from one location, original net emu dont have this problem, maybe something similiar is with the sync pad feature.

I tried to follow the tut in the main post, but I still run into the pesky sync bug. Maybe someone can point out what I'm doing wrong / if I missed a step?

This is the order I used to try and setup the PS2 Isos:
1. Boot into Cobra mode
2. Install Rebug PS2 Placeholder
3. Install PS2U1000 rap file with PSNPatch (From usb000/exdata)
4. Use Multiman to create an ISO.ENC.BIN file of a PS2 Backup from its ISO (Burnout 3: Takedown)
5. Use MMOS to navigate to the created ISO.ENC.BIN and copy it to /dev_hdd0/game/PS2U1000/USRDIR/
6. Exit Multiman and use Webman's Toggle PS2 Classic button combo (L2 + Select + Triangle) and run the placeholder

The game does starts to run normally, however the sync bug still remains and I need to plug my controller to get it to connect. Any Help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

If even classics have sync issue, then tutorial dont work for you.

You can try restore default setting (first make backup) if this dont help, try format hdd (lost all data!!!), or wait for better solution in next rebug release.

For ps2classic compatibility instal rebug toolbox ps2 version, go to rebug toolbox, and set ps2 emulator to original. PS2 Iso stop working, but you can play wireless on classics then.

So the pad I have that works wirelessly has a bad R3 stick it constantly pulls to the left. I want to sync my other pad but how would I go about changing which pad I want to sync? Should I erase all the PS2 classics stuff and start over?

what I did was:
1. restore default settings (in safe mode)

2. sign in to PSN (then sign out)
3. enable PS2 Classics with webMAN MOD (:select:+:L2:+:/\:)

4. activate place holder (PSNPatch, I used rap but no need with new update)

4. convert iso to enc.bin (multiMAN mounts it automatically)

5. start game from place holder

6. sync controller with USB (exit game, remove USB)
7. disable PS2 Classics with webMAN MOD (:select:+:L2:+:/\:)

.......works great :)

Edit: I also change the place holder icon a little as I hard mounted it to appear right above disc icon :p

Edit: maybe I'll change to this :p

Thanks I'll give it a shot but I am lacking one major component access to PSN. If all else fails I'll just start from scratch as it isn't hard to do at all. I like the new icon though ;-)

I seriously can't figure out why it never syncs for some people.

I have been messing with 3 different controllers and at least 100 times of reflashing cfw,

But most of the times I get it synced fine, there were couple failures though.

All my ds3 pads are stock pads came with ps3 packages

All mine were purchased as soon as Sony sold DS3's instead if sixaxis except the one that came with my slim. I know they are all official but the first run of them except for one. Not a deal deal really as I don't play PS2 often on my PS3 as I have a chipped v7 phat PS2.

Use my instructions but instead of sign in use reactPSN not PSNPatch (unless PSNPatch activates without active user)

Edit: a couple more icon choices

I have tried to fix the sync issue with no luck. I think the two items I am stumbling on are:

1. What is meant by start game from place holder (how do I create this placeholder)?

2. how do I convert iso to enc.bin using multiMAN? I have tried going into multiman to do this but have not figured out how.
Also, if my ISOs are already encrypted, do I need to convert an ISO to encrypted ISO using multiman? How do I mount the encrypted ISO?

1. you can download it and the rap from Codename: REBUG

2. switch to multiMAN mode (default is mmCM) scroll over to retro column and click on to iso you want to convert(if they are already in ISO.ENC.BIN format, then just mount it in mmCM mode), multiMAN should mount it when finished converting

Thanks. I understand how to convert to enc format using multiman.

Is the placeholder, the Rebug ISO and Classics Launcher?
