I'm on a CECH-3001 and cannot get past step 2 method 1 or 2. Method 1 won't get past the initialization on the webpage, and method 2 does, but will not pass the installation part stating it cannot copy the files. Any suggestions?

I also have a CECH-2101 with a busted blu-ray drive that i can't get past the installation. In method 1 & 2 it initializes fine but can't install. With the HEN installer in method 1 it reports: HEN Failure! Restart PS3 and retry! checkMemory: 000000000000 NaN.
with the HAN installer it reports: HAN Installation Failed! Error copying file(s) it then lists the 5 files that are in the root on my flash drive. I've tried this on /dev_usb000 and /dev_usb001 (and /dev_usb006 which gets me nowhere).

All went good for me ( 3004 ). Also from 'Part One' i skipped 1 and 3. Your firmware version is 4.86.1 right. About HEN Installation, i used method 1. When you load the page it automatically starts to install files and at the end says 'successfully' or something like that, then you should find the grey button 'Install HEN' and select it. Close browser (auto-close doesn't worked for me) and restart. That's how it worked for me.

On method 1 and 2 it errors after hitting the "Install HEN" or "Install HAN" buttons on both my 3001 and 2101

Would you be able to link a guide for installing the hfw or cfw? I'm new to modding a PS3. Thanks! Also, both PS3s are on OFW 4.86.

use bgtoolset to jailbreak 2101. then restart and install cfw.

to install hen on 3001, goto first post in this thread. there is a guide there.

You can disable CFW syscalls and wipe history using Webman MOD (tap R2+Triangle at anytime) or PSNPatch.
Disable CFW syscalls before accessing psn. I'm not entirely sure.... But maybe you could access PSN without enabling HEN... But again, unsure if this would achieve the same result.

Webman MOD is my recommendation though. As it kills 2 birds with one stone by providing a "safer" way of accessing PSN and covers mounting game backups etc
 
Sorry, real tired here... installing HEN Prerequisites actually has 3 tabs I only saw the first one, saying only OFW.

Now that I saw the other 2 tabs that move on to HFW... you're right, my bad sorry!
 
Hi. On new consoles, is there something HFW/HEN can't do compared to CFW?

Does HEN load automatically? i.e you don't need to launch a web browser or a hack every time you boot up the PS3?

HEN needs to be enabled after every boot of the ps3. CFW does not.

Some other minor things that don't work on HEN, such as ccapi and FSM. As well as some homebrew that haven't been "optimised" for HEN.
 
My ps3 slim is a CECH-3001A, im thinking of HEN'ing it to dump what digital games I got on it along with a few other things, then un HEN'ing it, and I want to know if I need PSNPatch to prevent PSN from detecting this console somehow and banning me from PSN, or if there's another alt that will do what I need, or if I even need them at all

As long as you don't login to PSN, you should be fine.
Disable auto login (if enabled) beforehand.
