Im working on a downloadable pack that contains this guide along with some labeled/annotated screenshots and homebrew (pending permission from Devs to host these)

Keep an eye out, but it won't be this side of Xmas for sure.

my PS3 firmware is Originally 4.22(super slim) that i Update it to 4.87; is your Guidance helpful to me?
because you said in part 2, going to psxploit site to install HEN, which i tried and it didn't support.:frown new:

You need to install HFW 4.87 (search the forum for relase thread). then install hen.
 
I will update the guide as soon as I can.

Dispite the way the UK had a 1 month lockdown followed by an area tier system (to which I'm in the highest), I still have to go to work....

There were also some positive cases at my work, so they furloughed everyone, then called me right back in to work the positive cases jobs....

I am really noob so sorry about that, you warned us with red text so I wonder when we should disable FSM after ps3 hen installation or before?
DO NOT INSTALL CCAPI WITH PS3HEN also I did not understand it what is that, I am really noob.

If you don't know what they are, then follow the big red warning text and DON'T use them.

FSM (Factory Service Mode) on PS3HEN will cause a brick.
CCAPI (Console Control API) will cause a soft brick (recoverable, but lose all data)

So, don't use them.
 
Thanks for your guide. I have question about psn content.
I am using hfw 4.87.1 and I am activeting psn games with online psn "activate system" method.
I just update minecraft 1.84, with this update skin/texture pack came but can't use. How can i use can you help me please?

So I jailbreak from 4.87 on a super slim, I got Hen running, as well as Multiman and Modman, everything works fine. problem is when trying to run ISO backups off an NTFS HDD. I get Type 32 error 80010017. The console recognizes the game, and even shows the splashcreen and music, but fails to actually boot. Any ideas?
 
Hi there, and thanks for all the hard work.

HFW 4.87.1 installed successfully, and the hen installer page seems to succeed and give the a success message. On rebooting, HEN doesn't appear in my 'game' column. I've reread the guide, and I'm pretty happy I have followed all steps.

I'm on a Slim CECH-3X machine

Thanks for the guide. It looks a lot easier right now, but I'm totaly new in this sort of things, so I have a few questions:

1. I'm on 4.87 OFW, so I should just download the Hybrid Firmware and load it with Recovery Mode? My console is Superslim 4004.
2. What is CCAPI and how to check if I have it already installed?
3. What is Factory Service Mode? I'm not sure. is it the Recovery Menu?
4. I want to install few of my games to SSD, mostly Gran Turismo, God of War and Call of Duty collection. That's the reason I still have PS3 on my desktop.
5. Will I be able to use PlayStation Store and play online?

1. yes.
2. if you are on ofw, then you do not have ccapi installed. installing hfw would overwrite it anyway.
3. no. recovery mode (or menu) is the same as safe mode. factory service mode is different.
4. i would recommend hdd instead of sdd. (if you mean a usb sdd, then that is okay).
5. yes. i would get all psn accounts activated and any downloads needed done before installing hen.

to play online - wait for somebody else to explain it in detail. i do not go online with hacked ps3.

Why not SSD? I have already installed 500GB, so far so good. I think SSD will load games faster through sata than the usb 2.0.

it will be a little better performance but ps3 does not know about trim so eventually the drive may get slow or perhaps even force format. it will not be full speed because the sata on ps3 is slower than modern sata. (it is the same as usb -- you can use usb 3.0 but it will be 2.0 speeds because ps3 usb port is only 2.0)

some ssd will work better than others. some may not work at all. but most will probably have problems eventually. it is better to use it in something else.
