PS3 Unofficial COBRA 7.3 Updater for Rebug 4.78.1

After the release of custom firmware 4.78 STARBUCKS by developer Habib which included the new COBRA 7.3, with help from Mysis, that addressed the PS3 controller sync issue. Developer Habib then released the source code of COBRA 7.3 while inviting anyone to add such to Rebug. Well someone did and that person goes by the name of MO3 via the source linked below. [break].[/break]The information quoted below was translated using Google translate and with anything that messes with your PS3 internal files. Wait till others have tested this or be sure to have a hardware flasher with a valid dump nearby.

Installer for Rebug 4.78.1:

All those who want to upgrade to Cobra 7.3, can now easily with "one-click install".

Instructions:
  • must be updated before the Toggle Mode COBRA - Switch> Enabled.
  • Cobra install 7.3 Installer.pkg and run once, making the PS3 automatically restart. after the update
  • after rebooting COBRA is Mode disabled, the manual activation Cobra must press once with Toolbox.

This quote via the source worries me a bit. So DO NOT install until other PS3 console models have been tested.

Should the installer does NOT use !!! in the PS3 versions CECH-A to CECH-C
. 1 works here it all with Cobra v7.2
. 2 if something goes wrong during the install, ONLY helps even a hardware Flasher

Use at your own risk.

EDIT: I just noticed this thread where some are testing it. Please take note at the warnings posted there too.

I jumped the gun last night and used this updater. Everything worked out fine though. CECHG01 4.78.1 REBUG REX

Just to clear things up, this updater is partially safe (excluding that we don't know cobra sources used here). But for nand users if something bad will happen during update process, then you need hardware flasher to recover. For Nor users problem didn't exist because cobra files are on HDD so simple HDD exchange fix brick.

Is not that if you have NAND then it will brick your PS3, but if copying files process will not be completed then you will get BRICK.

Here on my NAND CECHG04, everything goes fine.
Updated Cobra files with no problem.

One more time. I'm not telling that something will goes wrong. But if something goes wrong you will brick due to cobra files on NAND memory.
