This is what happen when someone "buying air". I wonder if they also cut off those consoles from games, patches, dlc etc. or just access to store. It is wise to archive all those important data if someone didn't already. Just in case.

chances are high that you'll only be locked out of buying new games, but games you've bought will still be downloadable. that's how it is with the wii when that store was closed in January of 2019. even if you use nus, you can download the game, but you get a 404 error with the ticket (license).

It sucks if that is the case, i guess they're finally getting ready to phase out the systems altogether and this is the first step to it. I assume the online services will stay on for a lot longer but if i had to guess, they will eventually come to an end as well. The PS3 to me will always be my favourite console, even long after when the services for it go offline. They were what made me interested in modding as well as the xbox 360 back as a kid when i used to mod savegames and think i was a master hacker xD.

But yeah, they're what made me love researching about $ony's consoles and how they work inside and out, reading the wiki for hours on end and eventually becoming a collector of various models.

I wonder once the online services are down (when and if that happens), would something like XLink for the OG Xbox be made?

Yeah, everyone who can do it, should backup all pkgs on their download list, and their licenses now, this way we will have lots of stuff backed up between us all.

I know with psp they shut down the store years ago, but you could still access your download list for years after, so I expect it will be like that for ps3 too, but better safe than sorry.

Get a clean console that is not banned or at risk of being banned any time soon. ideally a console that has never been exploited. then download everything while using a proxy to sniff the links as it downloads the pkgs. then grab all the rif files from the console and convert them back to raps.

then use all those links you sniffed to grab all the pkgs.

I will look into doing a mod to make it so the ps3 does not delete the pkgs after installing them, this will make it much easier for people to grab the pkgs off the ps3 instead of sniffing links etc.

@dazzaXx , xlink kai might be a viable option when you can no longer play online. that's how people were playing online with the 360 and a jtag/rgh. the only other option is a stealth service or this stealth plugin, which I'm afraid to try just in case it doesn't work (instant ban). they've made things for the wii, I believe, where you can play online after the servers went offline. wiimmfi? I've never tried it though. point being, there will probably be a way. the ps3 was definitely a popular enough system. someone even downloaded the entire miiverse stuff from the wii u for use in clone of it. I don't know what happened with that.

I think you can sniff links with ccproxy. that's how I compiled that list for my first ps4 tutorial. I haven't tried that particular program for use with sniffing god links. it will be in connection history, whatever you connect to. however, there are many proxy apps for using with sniffing links. @DeViL303 , creating a mod like that, where the pkgs are not deleted, will definitely help people who don't know how to use a proxy. I hope you succeed.

I had a look on the xlink wiki and apparently they already support a few games, seems they already started work on it.

it's possible that it originated for people who were banned. on the 360, you might as well be if using a jtag/rgh, because you can't sign in or be banned within a matter of a minutes in most cases. someone on temp told me about this: https://teapotlive.us/

right now, it's free, so I might try it out. you just need your kv.bin on the root of the hdd, I believe, then setup the plugin in dashlaunch.

Actually yeah, I think @Berion is right, if you choose to background download the package, then they will not get deleted so you can just grab them off the system without any mods.

The only time this does not work is if the pkg is tiny like a dlc unlock , and you do not have time to select background download.

I already have all of my pkgs and raps (maybe 50 total) on my hacked system, and a complete backup of them on four separate hdds. this new system I bought yesterday ($134 w/ free shipping, super slim) is just going to use discs. I had originally used digital only with the switch after my doctor thought I had parkinson's disease, and I was afraid of dropping the system when swapping cartridges. since then, it's been for convenience.

I tried it out not too long ago on my OG Xbox, it's actually a really cool program. Worked fine for me no problem and played a few games of Multiplayer on Halo 2, something i never got to experience back in the day when xbox live was active for it.

I'm just afraid of it not working, then banned. there's a stealth app that you can compile that's on github, but you need the xdk for that. I heard there's a torrent of all released xbox development kits that's 80GBs, but I've never searched for it. I might try it one day, but I rarely play the system. I only update the nand, and that's about it.

So the basic steps would be.

  • ideally get a fresh console or revert a console to OFW and factory reset it
  • put a big hdd in it if possible.
  • download everything from your download list but make sure to background download everything so it does not install
  • then exploit the console and grab all the pkgs and rif files off it. (edit: use apollo to grab the raps)

though I've never used it, I've heard apollo I think can turn rifs into raps. that might be the easiest way. the old way was using the rifs, act.dat, and idps on the pc with an app like rif2rap, which was made by our @pink1 .

yes, Apollo can export .rif licenses to .rap. It also supports bulk export so you just need to run the export once and then keep the .raps to unlock the content back in the future.
