PS3 Update: Sony backtracks and announces PS3 and Vita Stores to remain open!

The other day I was going to test a console that I have with TLoU, strangely the update didn't come up. Just for curiosity, I went to the PS3 update tool on my PC to see if there was a problem with the servers, and indeed, there was no update for that game at that particular moment, but with other games there wasn't any problem. Maybe they were migrating servers? The update works just fine now.

As long as they don't mess with the updates or games, I really don't care.

P/S: Btw, I just saw a good PS3 youtuber that says that this whole thing is coming from our friend Habib and his exploit. Maybe it was all true.

Bring me the damn 4.90 already! (aka the legacy online killer)..

funny thing is that my banned account received this email as well. :-P only two of my accounts have received the email with that being one of them.

Yea don't you just love not being allowed to dl your games you bought but Fony will spam your e-mail with new game ads and policy changes.

So, in addition to what we already had learned:
That re-downloads for already purchased content will still be available & that you can still redeem PS Plus vouchers, like auto-sync for throphies and uploading saves to cloud.

Now we also learn that PSN will still be usable on PS3. You will still be able to activate systems and also reset the clock if you have to change the CMOS batteries.

And, with that said, if both PS Plus and PSN still work on the system, maybe trophies will still be around as well? Haven't really been able to find info on that however.

Best video summary/overview of the whole situation I've seen so far is from Ryan Biniecki (Mystic) https://www.youtube.com/c/MysticRB
Thats where I got the info on PSN and PS Plus as well. He always seems to be accurate and up to date on everything Playstation. Maybe he works at Sony, that I don't know. Good summary anyways.

And, perhaps everyone but myself already knew this. But I'll add it if needed by anyone else.

Regarding game updates. I realized yesterday that you can download updates to physical games you haven't played yet, without installing the game.
Just run the disc > highlight over the disc image > press triangle > and "check for updates".
That way you can get updates only to your hhd, without having to install a game that you're not planning to use for a while still. Great way to "pre-update" a stack of game from the backlog and save space on your hdd.

I've heard something similar that Habib got some exploit leaked recently, that is unpatchable and unfixable in the infrastructure, afects PS4 and PS5 users as well, that Sony sh!t they're pants, they had to buy the exploit from Habib, which lead to the Legacy Store closure.

I don't know how much is true to an extent, but i only believe on the words of the man himself.

I know he wants to take credit for it just like he did with the 4.87 fw update that turned out to be made months earlier and made no difference to his hacks. But no one can explain why stopping new purchases in the store will make any difference to habib selling user account hacking tools.

IMO this store shutdown was planned and is not related to habib.

I obviously don't want to take credit of shutting down PlayStation store. Neither do I sell tools to HACK a user. Hijacking of accounts by that exploit was definitely possible....it still is. As for the 4.87 "credit" I simply said check the user agents and how the traffic flows. A lot of people in the scene now know how npcsla works. That data specifically includes a user agent update and a POST data update which is only found in np_oauth.sprx

I really hope I'm not the cause of this. And yeah I definitely don't want credit for shutting down ps store. Although you may question Sony why DMS was leaking consoleids in plaintext allowing brute forces attempts on breached databases

the exploit of NPCSLA allows any client to be authorized such as epicgames....basically any site where you linked your psn account(epicgames.....fortnite?). Shutting down the store basically means end of NPCSLA while native ps3 apis will continue working without disruption. The store basically requires a console token through NPCSLA and then proceeds to authenticate ANY client. This is why banning the psn store as a business is beneficial for Sony.

Well you have been taking credit for it, and this is why now youtubers are talking about it. :)

And yes you do sell a tool that leads to user accounts to be hacked. That is all I said, not actual user themselves, but their account.
I have no intention in selling the tool to hack user accounts. I have no part in that

neither I take credit in shutting ps3 online services down. Infact I got infected 3 times my pc just so that people can obtain exploit from me. I'd much rather not take "credit" like that.

I simply did security researching, sold to Sony that's all. In a way I "hacked" my own account then when I gave them a poc of exploit lol.
Infact I helped the third party companies, Sony and users. If my intention was bad I would never get bounty from Sony

Ok, so you have said on here before you have made over a million $ from selling this tool. So if this tool does not help hackers to access to valid PSN accounts, what are they actually paying you for? What does the person who pays you get out of it?

I virtualize the exploit. And give the file. I report the exploit then I give to people for a price. Just like.....people have 8.03 exploits they will give to Sony and Sony will patch it in next updates and you have 8.03 exploited(if you didn't update)
Seriously please don't count me in this. Anyways ps3 is very old it could be simply that they banned ps store because of that

I get that, but what does the person who pays you get of out of it? Why pay you if they do not get access to valid user accounts?
Some people simply want to know what does my tool does. Some people use proxies and breached databases to get accounts. That is not my intention. Let's put it this way ms word you can write threats.....is it illegal the soft? The same prinicipal applies here
