At the moment, I am unsure which route bguerville is going. We have a few donations to cover most of it at this point, I think, but I won't convince you to not donate to cover future costs.Hey guys, not sure where everything is at currently with this issue, but based on the og post. I'm more then happy to donate a years worth of funds to you to get the site back online for everyone to use once again.
bgtoolset still hasn't been fixed? It's been *almost* a month since this issue even occurred in the first place. I was *fortunately* able to get CFW working due to being at the right place at the right time, however, not everyone is as lucky or as fortunate as I am. I don't think we as a community should suffer because no-one is capable or motivated enough to fix these problems.
I am not a developer nor am I that enveloped but even so, surely an SSL problem that can be fixed on a whim shouldn't be taking this long without rational reason.
finding an SSL is *sooooo* hard (which it isn't) then it can only say so much about the state of things
If you had actually read through this thread you would see that it is being looked into, but the dev whose project this is (bguerville) has his own IRL stuff to attend to before he can put enough time into finding a proper solution. As stated by previous reply to you, the SSL options generally require making a purchase before testing. We do have another person who offered hosting option, but again this requires many changes and moving files around. The other option maybe to use a different cipher, which again requires modifying existing code and server side configuration, as well as testing.bgtoolset still hasn't been fixed? I may sound critical entitled even, but I am not speaking this for myself, but for various others, because ultimately it is because of the developers that we are given the means to experiment, homebrew and see what the PS3 is capable off, and if finding an SSL is *sooooo* hard (which it isn't) then it can only say so much about the state of things
I am much well aware. We all have lives, it wouldn't make sense if we didn't. I'm not denying that. I am saying that out of hundreds of users, surely not one of them ever considered posting an SSL certificate here within the month lest alone paying for it, because again, someone sure would, right? But then again I could be wrong, what do I know. I can not be one of them, but even so, I highly doubt that a solution is improbable. If you had actually read through this thread you would see that it is being looked into, but the dev whose project this is (bguerville) has his own IRL stuff to attend to before he can put enough time into finding a proper solution. We all have lives outside of providing free ps3 exploits and hacks to people. We have put thousands of hours over the years into getting things where they are today. Although most people appreciate what goes into this as a whole, many do not and some so not understand what it actually takes to pull shit like this off.
There will be a solution when bguerville has free time. His real life things he has to do is more important than hacking together some temporary fix so people like you will quit complaining. He wants a solid and tested solution that will last years.
If its all so easy, just write your own exploit, code, and rop chains, then put in the time to debug everything and test it across multiple consoles.
Cmon bro, its simple, just do it and post it here so we can all have CFW again.
Go F%$# yourselfI am much well aware. We all have lives, it wouldn't make sense if we didn't. I'm not denying that. I do not care whether one person is capable of doing something or not. Surely SOME of you can be capable of hacking a PS3 on your own. You can send men to the moon but can't even hack a PS3 all because a toolset is down, how pathetic. If not for our friend who created the HFW Flash writer, the jailbreaking community would essentially be doomed on PS3 because of issues like this. I do not speak for myself, I already have a CFW but there are many others who don't and are ultimately burdened by that fact. What about them? Do they not deserve the right to hack an unfair company that censors video games and cuts costs on a whim?
Also it's not some "temporarily fix" if it never gets fixed, now is it? This is the true incompetence that plagues the community, unable to do something in the face of adversity. I want this to be a reminder to people not to update to 4.91 because if you do....good luck, you'll need it. In any case, let this be a reminder that issues like this will take months maybe years to fix all because of some stuck-up developers, all because of their self-righteous egos, (not referring to bgstoolset in this given context) you might as well throw out our PS3 and buy a new one on lower firmware, because when only one person actually works it says all.
Then maybe I will, I certainly wouldn't want to be on a forum with these kind of stuck-up developers anyways.Don't mess with the devs dude they've done all the damn hard work just for you guys even i have seen it i have IRL stuff to deal with often too even though I may not be a dev but please respect their work. Patience is a thing yknow if you don't want to use the flash writer, i certainly am gonna use it on my CECHL once it arrives. @esc0rtd3w and the rest of them put alot of awesome effort. If you can't respect that then GTFO @Fukurowa
The bg toolset is one of many tools made available throughout the years, and is still accessible via other means. Stop being a douche just to be a douche. Then maybe I will, I certainly wouldn't want to be on a forum with these kind of stuck-up developers anyways.

I have a little plot twist for you: it is Sony issue in the first place... so stop biting hand which feeding You. Your comment was insulting (stuck-up developers? seriously?) and very demanding while you contribute nothing for the scene. Then maybe I will, I certainly wouldn't want to be on a forum with these kind of stuck-up developers anyways.

Probably not the wisest idea you guys remember last time when the Toolset was leaked, give him some room to decide whether he wants to open source it or not it's robust and powerful and cannot suffer any more fakes that brick consoles. if he decides to open source it then maybe he'll make sure it works offline but in the meantime no. also i certainly hope he hard codes his php if he is gonna open source it.I think it would be a good idea to host a couple mirrors to avoid issues like this in the future.
I have a couple of servers and a little bit of spare bandwidth and would host a mirror if possible.
