Update to 4.86 from Rebug Lite CEX 4.85?

Hi guys, so I bought a new CID off eBay as my console is banned - and tried to go online to register my new PSN, etc and I found out what you lot already know - there is a 4.86 update.

I can't seem to get on the Rebug site but is it safe to Rebug 4.86 I'm currently Rebug Lite CEX with 4.85 Firmware, Cobra 8.2. Slim PS3.

I wanted to get my console registered as I don't really trust the code I bought off eBay - I bet they get resold later on. I only want to get online and activate my PSN etc, I'm not an online gamer.

Remove any spoofs, etc. Install 4.86 cfw. install new toolbox, enable functions. profit.
 
Hi psykosis, thanks for the reply... Sorry to be a dumb noob but what do you mean by remove spoof? Reset my console ID back to original in irisman?

Also where do I get 4.86 cfw... Rebug site seems to be down..

Do I need to do anything with the new browser-based bguerville tools? Or is that new 'jailbreakers'?

Spoof is when you have firmware 4.85, but want it to show up on PSN as 4.86 for instance.
Not sure what's going on with rebug site, maybe @Joonie knows... :)
 
Thanks Rebug is back up now.. installed 4.86 Lite

However as I suspected the guy sold me a banned CID on eBay :(

I don't ever trust a CID purchase, or any of that stuff. If the console is banned, it's an offline unit IMO. I've never had a banned console, but new consoles are probably all over the local facebook buy sell trade sites or whatever. If you find a useable unit, or even one that you can pull the id from.... might be an idea for you :)

I'm sure someone with experience in doing this might be able to help. I'm normally one that if the unit is banned, I don't do anything to fix it. :)
