PS3 VDDR voltage mod upgrade for Frankensteins

DeadEnd

Senior Member
Hi,

I have developed a new mod to modify the voltages. This is mostly for the people who build a lot of frankies. Although I am sure most of them already have all they need. But just in case anybody wants these, you can pre-order here - https://ko-fi.com/s/8aa7b823f8

*I am sorry for mixing up 40 and 60 nm processors in the video. I am too tired from day job clearly

Below are installation guides for COK001/002 and the last picture is for SEM-001 boards.

I got some preorders but assembly costs were still too high, so I have decided to solder these by hand for now. If there is more demand in the future I probably have to think about paying for assembly. These are not easy to solder by the way.

Also note to US residents, your tariffs nonsense makes it difficult to ship anything with regular mail. So you need to be prepared to pay more shipping costs if you want safe delivery.

Thanks everyone for the interest and orders. There wasn't a lot, so I decided to stop making these. I still have the pcbs and parts if anyone needs them, you can contact me here. I don't think I will want to preassemble them myself though.

I have decided to share the gerber file and the parts required. Do keep in mind that you cannot order these from JLCPCB , because they don't build such small pcbs. The only way to manufacture these is through PCBway, and they will complain about it being small as well. You will have to agree to their condition that they will manufacture it in panel. They might also want to cut some edges, but I don't think I did that. Like I say, if you want to have the pcbs themselves, I have enough. Also if you are in the US, it is going to be possible to ship there again in small envelopes on 20th June. At least according to the local post. Anyways, here are the files.

Idk if this BOM is correct, but there are only 3 components here. The main IC is LD39200PUR (IMPORTANT: It needs to be adjustable variant). For 0.95v - R1 is 9.1k 0.1% resistor, R2 is 10k 0.1% resistor. It is important to use 0.1% tolerance, because otherwise the voltage may not be precise. For 1v both resistors have to be 10k. Keep in mind if you test these with your own power supply (it needs 1.7v input) , this will not work correctly because it requires a decoupling capacitor on the output. PS3 board already has those, therefore it works on board but not off board.

EDIT: It seems file attachments here are broken. Get it from this link : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12p7-WcWn7JATbFBH6V5x5mBA_wY4beLs?usp=sharing
