PS3 webMAN MOD 1.41.30 Released

A few updates have been made to webMAN Mod since we last reported it. Since just over a week ago developer Aldostools had added some http commands, a great idea, that allows you to rebuild database, enter 'recovery mode' and reboot your PS3. In version 1.41.30, which was released yesterday, you will notice the inclusion of the ps3mapi updates and also some style sheet fixes and improvements.

Can this webman work with habib standard cfw 4.70?

You'll need to run VSH PRX Loader or similar before it will work on non cobra firmware. (every time you want to run webman)
Or PSNPatch 4.70.2 Has the ability to auto load the plugin for it on boot, but it makes my system freeze up maybe 1 out of 3 boots... ymmv

I just switched to darknet 4.70 cobra for full / automatic functionality and have been trouble free since.

Thanks for the response. But the thing is, I don't play ps2 games or ps1. Neither do I do much other than watch movies and play games mostly ps3 n Snes. So the question is, do you think cobra cfw is good for someone like me that don't do much?. I just like webman for its quick mounting of games and dynamic fan stuff. Please advice the best cfw for my kind of activities.

If you want to play online I would go with darknet 4.70 cobra 7.03 and webman
If you just want to watch videos n stuff no online then i would go for rebug 4.65.2

That's pretty much all I do and why I like cobra so much.
No stuffing around, just start it up load a game and play.
I cant really see any downside to using to be honest.

Plus all the games that have issues for me on normal firmware just run without dramas or me having to do anything on cobra/webman. (god of war 3 for example)
I quite like darknet 4.70. Latest firmware so minimal chance of being banned on psn.
Not flooded with options and crap ill never use like rebug (I know you can disable the extra stuff manually) About as plug n play so to speak as you can get.

Its all personal preference though really.

i dont just watch videos, like i said i also play ps3 and Snes games but no ps2 or psx. I thought i could go online with habib 4.70 cfw?

yes, you can go online with habib 4.70 just make sure to run PSNpatch before hand (like always)
if you want to auto load webman on that CFW you will have to use the new PSNpatch there is an option in there for auto load.
I always make sure I have dynamic fan control running, it is so much better then the stock code that will let your CPU hit 80c than kick in full blast. I like to set my max temp to 65c

Edit: I did not mention the the PSNpatch auto load before because it sometimes freezes on boot (wont hurt anything, just got to jump of the couch to reset)

That freezing was a prime factor for me moving back to cobra as soon as I could.
Whole point of having the cfw is so I don't have to get off the couch! Hahaha

Still use psnpatch to autoblock psn access automatically until I disable cfw and webman with a quick shortcut on the controller.
Works bloody well. Can still sign into psn everyday to get my bonus in gran turismo 6 and don't have to worry about someone jumping on and getting me banned. :)

1.) Cobra CFW is the only firmwares that allow you to Network Stream PS3 Games from PC to PS3. (movies also but with video you can use Media Servers as well)

2.) Auto Loading of plugins. as mentioned before the latest PSNpatch offers this in the latest update to standard CFW's, but is a new feature and may or may not need some polishing. I have not tried it on a standard CFW myself.

3.) If you have FAT32 drives, then you can split ISO and play them just like a full ISO. Standard CFW have a split game feature but you have to merge them within multiMAN and take some time before the game will play. Personally i like fat32 drives better on a PS3. as the drive is supported by all apps. as the PS3 does not natively handle NTFS on the external , Then with the split ISO features. I think this is a huge feature that is over looked by many.

To be honest the gap between Cobra and Standard CFW is now very small, thanks to the recent improvements to Cobra/Mamba made by several devs like NzV, KW, Joon, Habib, etc.

Cobra definitively still has more features (mainly PS2ISO, PSPISO, network stream among other features) and I highly suggest to install it...

...but today's standard CFW (almost every version from 3.55 to 4.70) can perform the major functions from Cobra too (PS3ISO, PSXISO, BDISO, NTFS and plugins on startup).

So the decision between Cobra and standard CFW is now *almost* irrelevant compared to few months ago.

I still prefer cobra at this time, I agree i can see the gap closing but at this point there is still that gap. I like the progress though, it has been nice to see :)

PS2ISO and PSPISO some will say this is not a big deal as there is other methods on standard CFW. which there is, but for me i like having all the options. As each method does differ in compatibility/ I have seen PSP games for example play best via the Cobra methods and then also seen other games work better as a remaster and so on. So for PS2 and PSP. Cobra CFW will give you the option of what method to use where as the standard CFW still not give you the choices. So that IMO is still a big thing.

Then as mentioned before the Split ISO for fat32 is really an overlooked feature. I know i differ here from many, but i prefer a fat32 drive over an NTFS drive on the PS3. As support for fat32 is there and the NTFS support just is not there on all apps. The standard Split games, that takes time to merge and play. Where as Cobra its acts just as a normal ISO would.

The network loading alone is a great feature, If that was the only cobra CFW feature not implemented in Standard CFW, i think i would still be a cobra CFW user.

Thanks guys for the insight. I think i would go with the advice of installing Darknet Cobra over habib standard cfw 4.70 that am currently running cos I need to have webman and that dynamic fan feature too. though habib irish manager offers something similar.

aldostools, just in case you omitted : http://www.psx-place.com/forum/ps3-...stools-1387-post9588.html?highlight=#post9588
Not a big deal, but a bit annoying to have to copy icons manually. ;)

What are the icons meant to look like?
I normally get different coloured smiley faces unless I install webman addons via psnpatch.
Then they turn into PSX,PS2 logos etc.

I'm assuming that's what this is about?

edit: just looked at the code update and answered my own question lol

Thanks :)
