PS3 webMAN MOD folder empty

Hi all,

I installed webMAN MOD and prepISO today so that I can get my PS3 to read exFAT and NTFS usb drives.

Pressed L1 + X to install full version, however I cant see the webMAN games folder and the webMAN mod folder it created is empty.

Searched everywhere for a solution and haven't been able to find one any ideas?

First ensure that ur usb is connected. Then ur ISOs should be in PS3ISO folder. And then u need to start PrepIso so that webman can access the PS3ISO folder on ntfs/exfat drive

I followed a tutorial on YouTube: plugged in USB, I put the ISO in PS3ISO folder and started prepiso, screen goes blank then goes back to xmb however I can't see a webman games folder and the webman mod folder is empty.

Also the folders that use to install packages from are now blank

Are you able to access webMAN MOD via the PS3's web browser? Try typing in either 127.0.0.1 or your PS3's network address e.g. 192.168.1.127 - found in Network Settings.

U on CFW/HEN? and there should be webman games under games tab. If there isn't any webman games, it means it has not installed at the moment

I usually troubleshoot from the webman website, because refresh html is faster than refresh xml (for xmb) (only in the fact that refresh html can populate on refresh, whereas refresh xml requires refresh of xmb)
Make sure that you didn't partition GPT and instead partitioned as MBR. Also make sure your partition isn't over 2TB as that will cause issues.I usually stick to 1TB or less drives. You might also have to set one of the settings in webman-mod to actually scan /dev/ntfs also. I've seen this disabled by default in the past.
If you installed the package, that usually installs the installer, which allows you to install webman-mod. That application shows up on your xmb, not in the games tab, but with other installed apps. Once that is ran, you get the black screen, restart xmb scenario and then when you start your ps3 there should be a blinking yellow/green light on your ps3 indicating the scan of drives.
If you aren't getting the green/yellow blinking, webman isn't looking for games. Your system will return to the solid green light. This light is near the power/eject buttons on the console.

Thanks for all the replies

Tried my PS3's IP address and 127.0.0.1 and got the same error message: This page cannot be displayed (8011053d)

My network is enabled and when I earn trophies i'm able to get online and sync them using sen enabler and psn patch

CFW - I believe its Overflow CEX

Ive only got a webman mod folder and clicking on it shows its empty, no webman games.

Also the 'install package files' folder is now blank, this was working fine before I tried installing webMAN MOD and prepISO

Im assuming Coldheart's reply above was a way to access the webman website?

An webMAN MOD empty folder usually means that the refresh / scan for content is still running.

It may take a few seconds or minutes depending on the number of games in the disks.
Once the scan is completed, the folder is populated if it is accessed again.

The following file is created: /dev_hdd0/xmlhost/game_plugin/mygames.xml

If that file is not created (or the XML code inside is broken) may result in an webMAN MOD empty folder.

Just checked /dev_hdd0/xmlhost/game_plugin folder and theres no mygames.xml file

Try reinstalling webMAN MOD. Use the pkg from:
https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/releases

Confirm that webMAN is running pressing SELECT+START to show the system information.

Go to /setup.ps3, expand the section "Scan for content", uncheck "/dev_ntfs" then save.
This option instructs webMAN to use the internal prepNTFS. But if you will use the external prepISO, it is recommended to have this option disabled to avoid a double scanning of NTFS.

NOTE: The internal prepNTFS only scans PS3ISO, PSXISO, BDISO and DVDISO. prepISO is only needed to scan additional folders (e.g. PKG, MOVIES, PS2ISO, PSPISO, etc.)

Use prepISO to scan your content on NTFS & exFAT. You will see a black screen for a few seconds, then it will return to XMB and start a normal refresh. After a few seconds you should see a notification saying "Refresh XMB: OK" and the file mygames.xml should be created.

If there are only a few games the message "Refresh XMB: OK" may not be visible.

It is a way to access webMAN setup and other functions from a web browser, and I suggested trying it to see whether or not you could access it which would help determine if wMM is functioning correctly which it doesn't seem to be. Your best bet is to follow aldo's post above this one, as he is the actual developer so is best placed to help you troubleshoot webMAN MOD :)

Thanks for this aldostools, I installed the pkg from the link above, pressing start + select didnt do anything, it seems as though there was no changes from the first time I installed it.

Thanks, I'm hoping I can get this fixed.

Since you've reinstalled webMAN MOD, and getting the same results, there is something else you could try: connecting to the PS3 via FTP (you can use multiMAN for example to do this when wMM isn't working) and check for a few things.

First, open the dev_hdd0 directory and look for another folder called plugins. You should have the following file in there:
webftp_server.sprx - this is the actual webMAN MOD plugin itself which is loaded when the PS3 boots. Without this, wMM does not load. There may also be a secondary file in the folder - webftp_server_noncobra.sprx - however the first one I mentioned is the one you would use with Cobra as wMM does.

Once you've checked that, come out of the plugins folder and look for a .txt file called boot_plugins.txt - transfer it to your PC and then open it. It should look like this:

upload_2020-11-28_9-16-56.png

Note the space left at the top of the file - make sure it looks like the above. Pretty self-explanatory, but this file is a list of plugins to be loaded at boot. Edit the file if necessary to make it look like the above, save and then re-upload/replace. Hope this helps.

Thanks Coldheart, I can confirm that webftp_server.sprx file is in plugins and boot_plugins.txt looks like the photo you attached.

May I add that after installing wMM my install packages folder went blank, before the folder used to say 'install packages'

Definitely a bit of a mystery lol...

Have you tried reinstalling your CFW, and which CFW are you currently running? Sorry if you've already answered this, but I'm just trying to think of possible solutions to your odd predicament :)

Just reinstalled CFW, currently running Overflow 4.83 I believe, a friend recommended it to me before covid and my PS3 has been unused since.

This fixed the issue with the blank install packages folder, it also removed the empty wMM folder, pressed L1 + X on wMM to install full version but nothing happen

Might have to accept the fact that I cant have wMM on my PS3 lol

Your current CFW might actually be the issue; Overflow has both standard and Cobra variants, so if you have regular Overflow that means it doesn't have the Cobra payload built in which webMAN MOD uses to work properly.

I'd therefore recommend installing a different (i.e. Cobra) CFW and see if that helps. See the CFW tab in this thread for available 4.86 CFW. I can personally recommend either Ferrox Cobra or Rebug LITE - both of which have Cobra built in to them. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that mate, very much appreciated, ill let you know how I go :)
No worries. Fingers crossed lol
:encouragement:

By the way, if you do opt for Rebug then see this post as the official rebug.me site is currently unavailable. Having said that, Ferrox Cobra is pretty great and I used it for a long while before I tried Rebug :)
