Hi everyone,

I would like to know some simple ways to increase the lifespan of my PS3. I doubt that my PS3 slim will die anytime soon, but it's something that still worries me. Does anyone have any suggestions? Nothing scary, such as delidding.

I am thinking about opening the top cover of my PS3 to apply thermal pads on some of its chips, replace it's thermal paste, and spray it's insides with compressed air. Would that suffice, or is there more that I can do?

I would like to know too!
I never change paste of my slim and I stay worry about lifespan. I'm not sure adding thermal pads isd recommended but it could be a good idea. Once a year I open the cover and gently suck it with a vaccum cleaner with litlle brush adapter. It's erally clean as new without dust anywhere...but paste seems really "dry", I don't play long time (because worried lol) but it's still 65/75°C on 'not heavy game"...I would be happy to see other tips fo rour lovely slim!! see ya ;-)

hi, besides changing the thermal paste and cleaning up your console, i can also recommend you to change the hdd if needed, also try to have connected your console to an UPS or stabilizer, this actually helps a lot too, so far i have my ps3 slim more than 6 years, that one actually i bought it used its not new console so i think that it has more than that, the last thing that i did, it was to change the hdd to a ssd, i bought the adata su650 480gb model due to that the console does not support the 960gb, at least for my end it doesnt, however it goes really good, i have for 6 months already and so far no slow speeds or performance so far, what i did is to have everything installed into one single way and thats it without installed and deleting stuff or anything like that, also i used the artic mx-4 thermal paste, the temps are good so far, im on 4.90 CEX evilnat CFW standard version, i managed to do some tests and if i play for more than 6 hours the alst of us, the temps are around 71-75C wihout any fan mod or setup, im using the SYSCON setup for this case and it goes really good, im wondering how the artic MX-6 will do for the PS3 if perhaps it will make any changes of the temps, we will see once i need to change the thermal paste on some years now

Thank you Ashura! For the ssd, it's not possible to change with any 960gb or are there only specific compatible type?
ohh actually at least on my ps3 Slim console i was not able to upgrade that one to the 960gb type, so far i used 2 ssd types, the adata one and the crucial bx500 both at 480gb versions, i know that there is also a crucial mx500 model which it seems that its good, however for that one i didnt test it or anything, so far im doing great with the adata su650 i have it for 6 months now and so far so good, no issues or anything related to it
