Hello this is my first post
Wondering what ps4 hardware mods are out there in 2024?

I mean real upgrades to the hardware, and im sure this would require a jailbroken consoles.

So i don't really want to talk about jailbreaks here. Unless they are needed for the hardware upgrade specifically

I know a BGA reworker and they specialize in PS3,PS4,PS4 PRO,Xbox 1X,PS5,PC, repairs etc,

They reball these systems all the time and repair them. They used to do a motherboard transplant service removing all the chips from 1 board and soldering them onto another board. If i remember correctly some the chips are paired but i don't remember witch chips are paired, I also don't remember if there paired on a software level or a hardware level.

Point being i could have hardware modified because i know a person who has the ability to do the work. So i don't want to here how things are soldered to the board and can't be upgraded here on this thread because that is simply not true.

So if you have been working on a hardware mod, Or know of a hardware mod, Or have always wanted to do a hardware mod like me. Please post here

What in theory could be upgraded on the hardware level through solder rework and with specific software modification in the future. I can't wait till they stop updating the firmware I would expect lots of mods to finally take place once firmware is final.

Thanks for reading

afaik, not much beyond aesthetics. the ps4 is not like the ps3. we can't even remarry a bd drive. in fact, updating to no bd firmware requires a backup of the hdd. if you have to replace the hdd for whatever reason without a backup = brick.

Lol well thats a bummer sorry to hear that

I asked Al azif about it, since I wasn't sure about no BD on the PS4. That's what both her and LM said to me. You have to have the hdd cloned or you'll get a brick. In fact, I heard that's even what Sony does for a warranty. It's Bs obviously.

Thank you for your reply
I didn't know upgrading the hard drive had become a problem. In the past i had upgraded my ps4 hard drive and i tried cloning using using software called EZ gig

Only with a broken BD drive.
Sorry to hear about your system problems. Well maybe my friend can help Its Tech Genius in Montclair CA united states. He specializes in PS3,PS4,PS5,Xbox 1X etc. People from all over send him boards they can't fix and he fixes them. Its a small business but they are great

How about a gddr5 upgrade, Has anyone out there tried to upgrade the physical ram on the board? I have got to ask my friend Tech Genius what chip vendor PS4 uses and is there BGA Package for there ram chips custom or ordinary? Would i need to make some kind of adapter or are there ram chips out there that could solder directly to the board.

We live in the land of gddr6 graphics cards so there should be plenty of dead gddr5 gpu's using the same bga package for there ram.Again if the package is Custom or the chips are paired or married to the board then there will be problems.

Maybe it's currently not possible

I understand that a firmware modification would have to be used as well to make everything work.

Has it been tried and what were your results is what i am wondering.

No, I was just saying that HDD failure means brick if you have a broken BD drive. I don't own a PS4, but I used to. Never had a broken BD drive though.
