PS3 What's the best OtherOS?

Hey guys, I want to try booting OtherOS on my PS3. What's the most recommended distro?


I've found Red Ribbon, Yellow Dog, Ubuntu, Gentoo, and Fedora. Which one runs the best?

I can't speak for other os, but ubuntu is a very good distro. I think fedora might use pacman (can't remember). arch also uses pacman. I build almost everything (my compiles) through ubuntu, but some work out better with certain things, like arch, which is what I used to build that star fox port for the pc.

I'm about to test Ubuntu, but i'm curious about the others.

best may depend on what you plan to do. I'm not sure how new the ubuntu version is, but a lot has to do with the version of glibc. for example, to negate compatibility with ubuntu 18.04, devkitpro, the development kit for nintendo stuff, they only allowed a version of glibc that was one higher than you can achieve on 18.04 iirc. bull shit imo. I think that was their way of removing support from 18.04. I'd imagine the version for ps3 is very low as the system is so old, but I dunno.

Personally I use T2SDE's kernel alongside Adelie Linux.
