PS3 Which revision of 40 Nm RSX for my CECHC04 (COK-002) ?

Hi Guys,

TLDR: Is any 40 Nm RSX compatible with my CECHC04 (COK-002) for Frankenstein mod ?

I have 99,9% working CECHC04. It runs all games except TLoU (every time on TLoU I got RLOD). Checked syscon codes and got errors 1001, 1002, 2203, 1601, 1701, 3034, 4411. So I assume that my RSX and NEC Tokins are at the end of their lifetime.

Unfortunately where I live (small EU country) there is no "consoles repair shops" or something like that, but I have very good local "electronics shop" (not for consoles) that have reballing machine and can do Frankenstein Mod for me (asked them already).

I read somewhere (cannot find it again) that not all 40 Nm RSX's are compatible with my MBO ? I basically have all 3 revisions of 40 Nm RSX in 3 fully working PS3 Slim / Super Slims. (2504B, 3004B and 4001C). So basically I have CXD5300xxx, CXD5301xxx and CXD5302xxx RSX's. And one should be the donor, but don't want to ruin wrong one.

Which one will be the best for Frankenstein Mod for my CECHC04 ?

I don't think there is any practical difference between which PS3 will you choose as a donor. For sure RSXes in 2504B and 3004B will be compatible to do the Frankie PS3, not sure about 4001C - ps3 dev says that this model is equipped with either 28 nm (definitely not compatible) and 40 nm (not sure if it's gonna be compatible - maybe the BGA changed). If somebody confirms that this RSX model inside your PS3 super-slim will be compatible, personally I would go for sacrificing the PS3 Super Slim as this model is the cheapest and lowest in build quality. If not, I'd go for 3004B as this model is definitely not compatible with CFW - check if your 2504B model can handle CFW in the bgtoolset

OK, Understood. I know that if I have 4001C with 28 Nm RSX, that this doesn't fit, this is clear. I will check that to see what RSX is inside.

But I asked this question because I read somewhere (cannot find again where) that not all 40 Nm (not 28) are the same and that some are not compatibile with my COK-002 MBO.

So, any 40 Nm RSX (CXD5300xxx, CXD5301xxx and CXD5302xxx) are compatibile with my board and I need just to choose which PS3 will be a donor ? For sure super slim (4001C) will be a donor if CXD5302xxx is compatibile, if not, 3004B is second in line for organ donation.
