PS2 (WIP) XtremeEliteBoot+ (a powerful alternative for FMCB)

Well, the video convinced me, that he made some actual development (i.e. programming, structural planning and etc.)!

I don't have a clue how much it (the project) does re-use code from other projects in a proper or improper way (since I don't have it), but I am not sure about the boot-thing specifically...

But the ELF seems to be an actual development (+ the package surrounding it, to make it even more simple a.k.a. 'noob-proof')!

...and either it is really System-Initialization-related, or he has build in some 'protection'... :D

but at least we agree he is using something from fmcb and if that something is ripped from fmcb bootloader or whatever it is called then that means it should be called XE NOT XEB.
 
I would rather like to see it open sourced. ^^

The designing of those styles takes a while, but once they are refined (in theory), they can be build in a quite short time (and the style has already been 'worked out', so it is merely a matter of copying it, or recreating it)!

So the themes in the pack could be rebuild or even directly used on the apps...

The 'protection' probably could be cracked or faked...


I don't get this specific kind of limitation... 'One or nothing' seems to be the devise.
I think FMCB could somehow load the XEBPLUS.ELF and keep the feeling of all of it the same, except that it would show the FMCB-Logo (on a coldboot) before the XEB+-Logo...


Regarding the name... Well... It is his choice, but the whole 'agenda' just seems kind of offensive... 'Xtreme Elite' (soooo much superior) and than 'Boot', like a reference to FMCB/FHDB...
Even if it is... That's just not nice, compared to a project which is now over 10 years old and just got another update (and also throughout the years!), whereas he has yet solely posted a video about XEB+.

But I don't doubt, that he has SOMETHING...

Fake is if something does not exists.
Having FMCB code means it could be based on it.

regarding the way XEBMAIN.ELF works, it points out that it could have his own initialization method, so the BOOT part is in order and not necesary a FMCB rip off
 
Well, that could be a protection as well...
Even if he doesn't release the source, I am quite sure it can be made to run elsewhere...

However... I would not take part in reskining, lol... Credit should be given to them!

his own initialization method that looks like an fmcb with a replaced logo ..... we really need to hear what hwnj has to say.

iam glad that we had that discussion but hwnj has the real answer soo I'd rather wait to what hwnj has to say for now.

I get easily mad at people and never forget someone I hate. But, in the other hand, I have a big sense of justice and a big curiosity. So, I am not that good.

Btw.:. On my PAL PS2, it shows the hacked OSDSYS (of FMCB/FHDB) in NTSC in color (so actually PAL60?!)... ;)

not the PAL PS2 I had some years ago before I bought a NTSC one
if I set FMCB to NTSC, it shows the screen with no colors, but at least I was able to enter the browser and delete savegames
 
Freakin' heck! I am absolutely certain, that one of both is the same guy from back then, so if either of them is, the project advanced quite a bit from some same-style-skins bundled with some basic apps and a replaced FMCB-Logo...

OMG! If it is him, I encouraged him back in the days and he even asked me some questions and I gave him some hints/ideas!

If it is him, he really advanced quite a bit from 'not a technical noob, but not yet really into development' (but he did/tryed some scripts and etc.) to a developer in ~6years...

I would certainly also be interested, who did what, because doing it all in your freetime does need quite some time, even the supposedly 'easy stuff'.

If he is (the person from back then), he (or Chelsea Fantasy) did send me a test-build before in 2011/2012!

I am quite curious now! It is one of the reasons for my previous rant (which I removed) - because I am sooooo certain, that he PM'ed with me on PSX-Scene.com - and I thought he didn't advance and just replaced some stuff...

The probability, that there is another person releasing/creating the same kind of project, which has the same intend (noob-proof) and also the same kind of features + some of the things the person told me,... goes next to nill... Lim-->0 (or whatever you prefer)

In the uncertain chance that he/they don't remember or are really not the same, I will look through my inbox.

But that's partially also a reason, why I said he probably has something, months before the video (and even before your dislike on psxtools.de, lol)!
