Yes, you should still be able to use that DNS trick temporarily however iirc the SSL certificate should expire soon and it won't be able to auto renew itself with the domain DNS servers reset the way they are, the ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com site should no longer be accessible whenever that happens, I don't recall the exact date though.
Hopefully the new setup will be ready by then.

Up to you, but personally I would recommend you wait.
Any Toolset alternative you may find out there is leaked, only partially working and generally untrustworthy.

Was considering this option I tried the dns thing it didn't work for me but I did hear hen could lock my system and I'm not sure what that even really means so I'm kinda sus about it is it totally safe? Or safe enough I shouldn't have to really worry? I just bricked my old one a few weeks ago and just got a new one today lol

I tried installing hen but the auto installer failed I tried restarting my ps3 then I tried clear all cookies and all that then closing the browser and retry still didn't work then I tried clearing everything then restarting my system then trying again and still nothing guess I'll wait for the cfw shit to work ‍

i assume you mean the auto installer on ps3xploit.me but there is also lmn7's AutoHEN. it uses a different method to install. there is a guide i wrote HERE because it is a bit different.

if you have trouble with all installers, then i would suspect a faulty hard drive. you can remove the one in the ps3 and try another one (it woll be formated by ps3!). if it does not help, you can put the old drive back in and the data will still be on the old drive.

ok so i tried your suggestion and it didnt work so i tried putting the old hdd in and doing the whole DNS settings thing that didnt work so i tried both ways of installing the hen the initialization works but then the setup after that fails on both sites although i will say when i turn on my ps3 the controller disconnects when i use my new drive (from a different ps3) i have to reconnect controller after it turns on even tho my controller turns it on fine but the drive this ps3 came with doesnt make it disconnect after its on that makes mefeel like maybe its the drive but idek since none of the installers worked on the old drive im on ps3 slim CECH-2001A any help or ideas would be appreciated im prepared to buy a new drive i just want to know thats definitely my problem or not :/

they were switching to a different hosting company and the old company decided to sell their domain names before they were switched over. there was no hack or attack or anything like that, just bad business.

HFW is only needed for HEN.

You should be able to patch the flash memory directly from OFW 4.88 using bgtoolset.
