XMB playing music in background?

Looking online it seems when you are playing music either files or music CD in the XMB, you could press the PS button to return to the XMB and browse the internet/view photos. However maybe since firmware >2010 then this is not a feature anymore? I can't seem to go back to the XMB without stopping music. I remember one time my PS3 glitched and a homebrew app had appeared on my screen which threw me back to the XMB while the music still played, can't seem to do it again.

Chance the output frequency to 48kHz in the music settings, (44,1/88,2/176,4 kHz) option doesn't allow background music playback

Just tried that and it works, thanks for that. Interesting limitation, but I suppose resampling requires more CPU power available.
