Hello!
After changing the thermal paste on my PS3 (CECH-2004a), the console wouldn't boot and would display the YLOD instead. After connecting to the SYSCON and reading the stored codes, It read 3034. If I lightly pressed down on the RSX during boot, the console booted normally so I assumed that there was a bad connection between the RSX and the motherboard. Today I attempted a reflow of the board with a hot gun, but now when I tried to boot up the console, the code 3004 would return indicating a short somewhere on the RSX's powerline (I assume). I ran some measurements on the board with a multimeter, and came to a conclusion that 2 resistors near the RSX are, what I assume, shorted to ground because they return only 0.3ohms each (picture:
)
Looking closely at the service manual diagram (which is not for my board so im not sure), It looks like that I created a short in the RSX when I was reflowing? (picture:
) If anyone knows this, can you please confirm? I also suspect NEC's because they we're really close to the heat source.
Anyways If anybody has any information at all, I'd be really grateful. From what I gathered, I either need to do a reball, or the RSX Is dead.
Here Is also my SYSCON log:
(I dont think the picture links work, as I cant seem to post links in the threads)
