Hi

i am little lost with all those great homebrew, the things i dont want to install 1000 and never use 995 of them...

can you please advise me some ? i have already multiman,

i have an PS3 Slim CFW 4.91

:)

Must-have are:
  • WebMAN MOD
  • multiMAN
  • Apollo Save Tools
  • File Manager (from ManaGunZ)
  • Artemis (if you want to have some fun with GameShark like cheats)
  • GamePad Test (a little app used to test if your controller is working properly and has SIXAXIS)
The rest is up to you. No need to install anything that you don't want nor know about.

- reActPSN

- IRISMAN

- IRISMAN M7

- FTP server

PS3_Unlock_HDD is ok. It's included in CFW Evilnat. webMAN MOD also lets unlock HDD with web command: /unlockhdd.ps3

reActPSN is practically obsolete and not compatible with HEN. Cobra/HEN can apply rap files automatically. Apollo can export/import raps.

FTP server is integrated in almost every homebrew: IRISMAN, multiMAN, ManaGunZ, etc. webMAN MOD has an FTP that runs all the time. CFW Evilnat also integrates an FTP server.

Movian M7 is a must have tool to watch movies from torrents, mkv and other formats not supported natively by PS3.

IRISMAN, multiMAN and ManaGunZ do almost the same with little differences in features. Choose the one that meets your needs.

In Network > CFW Tools > Service Tools > Advanced Service Tools > Toggle HDD Space you can unlock the extra 8% space.

On a side note, I would advice against using an SSD in your PS3. Those drives are not compatible with the console and can cause issues.

ive seen people say ssd's on the ps3 have issues, like i know the ps3 doesnt have TRIM support but what other issues are there ?

the guy who translate the cfw in french dont did a good job in translation ^^ the service tools he call it Options Recovery... ^^ now is fine ^^

can i ask you too where to go in webman ? ^^

Berion has made an astonishingly good thread, collecting lots of data on the vocabulary, concepts, PC vs PS3 capabilities on SSDs, drives compatible with the console, and most importantly the issues that may (or may not) arise when using an SSD on a PS3.

You should check it out, it's a must read in my opinion: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/guide-ssd-for-playstation-3.42499/

I'm sorry. Quiet don't get your question of "where to go in webman". What are you trying to do?.

Sorry is me who miss understand ^^ every things is fine thank you ^^

can i ask you if you have to choose between : IRISMAN, multiMAN and ManaGunZ which one or maybe more than one ? ^^ (if i dont understand bad is just multiman for you ?)

You recommand me File manger from ManaGunZ i see i can download it separatly that mean i dont need to install too Managunz ? :)

is an app to stress test the CPU and the GPU to check the stability ? i wish to go when it will be avaible to the CFW with overclocking possibility. I dont know if is a good thing to do on PS3 but im used to do that since year on PC. (i delied my PS3 Slim 2104B)

actualy if i understand the good advices i have those :

- Multiman
- webMAN_MOD
- movianM7
- GamePad_Test_1.00
- FileManager_v1.42 (without Managunz)
- Apollo save tool
- Artemis

Emulators:

- Retro Arch
- FB Neo RL Plus

To play Playstation 1&2 games no need emulators right ?

im good ? ^^

EDIT: what about : Rebug Toolbox ?

I have multiMAN to rip my disc games, but don't use it for anything else. It has a built-in file manager, among other things, that can come in quite handy, but it's an old application surpassed in many aspects by IRISMAN and ManaGunZ. Other than that, webMAN MOD has everything I need and is way superior in the daily usage of a PS3.

You recommand me File manger from ManaGunZ i see i can download it separatly that mean i dont need to install too Managunz ? :)

That's right. It's the file manager only, which is very simple to use compared to other managers, in my opinion.

There is none, as far as I know. People use very intesive games to stress the console and check temps and performance, like The Last of Us, Uncharted 2, Metal Gear Solid 5, God of War, GTA IV and V, Gran Turismo 6, May Payne, BioShock Infinite, Final Fantasy XIII, among others.

To play Playstation 1&2 games no need emulators right ?

WebMAN MOD takes care of that.

EDIT: what about : Rebug Toolbox ?

Rebug Toolbox has most if not all of its features integrated into Evilnat's CFW 4.91, so no need to install it for the average user.

@ GuilloteTesla

Escuse me to disturbe you again with this topic...

Regarding your experience multiman have something more, others dont have to need to install it when we already have the tools of the CFW and webMAN MOD ? like for which reason or options we need to install multiman ? ^^

Don't really know for sure. I've been using MultiMAN only to rip my PS3 games and the file manager to edit some of the dev_flash files. But now Evilnat's CFW 4.90 plus WebMAN MOD have everything I need from the XMB. IRISMAN is also a powerful tool to have.

And for the file manager, I use they one from ManaGunZ installed apart or via FTP with FileZilla.

It's a matter of personal preference and taste at this point.

multiMAN
IRISMAN
ManaGunZ

All share many of the same functions and are classified as homebrew apps that are backup manager's.
You can have all 3 installed at the same time with no conflicts or anything, While they all share many of the same functions of a backup manager, they all have unique features of their own. So they are not exactly the same but they are not different, but they also give a unique experience as well. So its best to try all and see what fits your needs and personal taste. .

webMAN MOD is a plugin that runs in the background and contains many features that a manager above provides. Sometimes in a different way, but it also offer's many unique features and abilities that the homebrew apps can't/don't perform.

I have all 4 setup on my PS3.. i tend to use webMAN MOD for most task. but i do like to lean on the other apps for various task. Some like multiMAN file manager, where some people hate it, Some people prefer remote file manager's like webMAN MOD or FTP access. So it just comes down to needs and personal preference..

All 4 of those projects are made by very experience developer's and you can't go wrong with any choice.

edit:
multiMAN is no longer maintained. However the good news there is no longer any kernel changes in the PS3 firmware where changes and new support is needed. Only side affect has been the firmware version being displayed wrong (that's a normal bug now)

i prefer to manage my file by ftp but i install as you this filke manager managunz who look nice even i think i will never use it ^^

what i dont like in multiman maybe im wrong : need to load and exite... no more updated and double use when other did i think all what it did as Webman MOD.

then if webman MOD + CFW already do what multiman do then for me is no sense to install it. If im not wrong is what i understand from you ? like it dont do something else than webman mod and cfw do ?.

IRISMAN it have something special it do webman + cfw dont do ?

thank you ^^

ManaGunZ :)

i dont like to have things who do the same stuff i prefer usualy to focus on a same softs. but if a soft do better fatser, more stable, options others dont have then im going on this one ^^ i dont like multiman because need to load we need to exit, no more update.. ^^

thank you
