PS3 4.82 NoBD CFW Options ( REBUG / FERROX / OVERFLOW ) : Unable to boot Apps / Games from PS3 XMB?

Here is a type of CFW for PlayStation 3 consoles with a broken BD Logic Board/Drive and contains an issue of not being able to boot anything from the PS3 XMB. It does not matter if the content is stored on the DISC or HDD, you can not launch anything from the XMB with PS3 Console's contain this defect. If that sounds like a PS3 console you have laying around or know someone who might have that issue, there is good news as there is an easy fix (Yes, Sony its easy and Sony should issue this patch themselves). Simply by disabling & patching the Disc drive, developer's in the PS3 community have found out this allows those otherwise useless consoles to launch items once again from the PS3 XMB, So play your purchased Content from PSN / Disc Backups ect/ Purchase things from PSN store/ play video & use services once again on your PS3. noBD CFW for a majority will never be used, but is a great option for PS3 owners that are otherwise stuck with a broken console that would only use would be a power hungry screensaver. So lets take a look at some of the NoBD CFW options and favors we have seen released to this point

ERROR: 80028F21

Am using 4.82 FERROX. How Install ?
I don't understand the question, sorry.
Can you elaborate a little? 6 words is not very much for us to go on...

You are currently using unpatched Ferrox 4.82 cfw on a console without a functional BD drive?
You get that error when? When launching a game?
You are asking us how to install what exactly? A noBD cfw?

I am still unsure why you are posting in this thread if you actually do have a functional BD drive & you have no use for the noBD CFW?

And the explanations you are giving us are too succinct for me to help.
If there is an issue with a xmb mod or with the cfw, report it on the right thread or create your own pls.

I have installed CFW in the following link. My Blu-ray drive is working.
I don't know what I should do. How you can give more details ?

Like I said already, this is off topic. This thread is for noBD CFW queries only.

If you have a problem with Ferrox cfw, report it to Alexander in the Ferrox Cobra 4.82 thread.

If you have a problem with a xmb mod, report it to the maker of the mod in the mod's release thread.

Hey guys,
does anybody else have problems with Rebug NoBD 4.82 or am I the only one? I would like to know because I need to know where to find the problem. Thanks in advance

Hey Buddy, thanks for the cfw, but unfortunately it does not work :( It works only with Cobra disabled. If I enable Cobra in Rebug toolbox, all the homebrew are stuck in a black screen. Can you please check one more time if there is a chance to fix it? I would be really thankful. Thanks anyways and good luck
Which Homebrew? All the ones that I have tried work good. Maybe try "Check File system" option in ★Custom Firmware Tools in the Network column (★Custom Firmware Tools/★Service Tools)

Hello. Well, I reistalled this CFW twice in a row (read somewhere that can help to apply the noBD patches), Checked file system as you suggested and it acts weird. The homebrews (all of them) worked and after a reboot (with doing no change) stopped working, only black screen. What a shame but I am coming back to Ferrox :(

nobd is a upl edit. the upl is part of a firmware pup. it tells the system what pkgs to install. that's pup packages. bd firmware installation is removed from that. you need to decrypt a firmware to see it. if you use PUAD, tell it to decrypt upl. I suspect another issue with your system.

well actually patch is a bit more complicated then that you also need to patch Core_OS lv1.self for it to work properly (as I suspect is my issue with NoBT)

Ok now here is the confusing part, I have my console jailbroken already but my bd drive does not work so I am unable to launch anything from the xmb, so how am i supposed to launch rebug toolbox from xmb, to switch cobra on, IF I CANT LAUNCH ANYTHING FROM XMB. That's a huge question, use nobd firmware so you can toggle a certain option, but YOU CANT load anything to select that option, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

iirc, all on and off do is change the cobra name in the rebug folder. off has bak or something like that in the name.

Yes 3 different times, let me ask I do have a bluray conncted, its just not the right 1 I do not have original logic oard so I was gonna try to remarry it,yet dont have eid root ke, Cant get it either because , I cant open any apps. I did install all 3 nobd cfw, which is my reason for asking this question. Either of them allowed any app to open just like the normal cfw. Should I disconnect the drive I do have in there? I don't think that would keep apps from booting up.
