    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

I modded Rebug 4.84.2 REX to disable Cobra as default in PUP @DeViL303, freezes like my CFW while XMB is loading. Do you want to try it? I can send it to you via DM

Just the same as 4.87.1:
  • Install CFW 4.84.2 Rebug REX
  • Install webMAN MOD 1.47.31 with L1 pressed
  • Install CFW 4.84.2 Rebug REX Modded (Cobra disabled)
  • Check if freezes while XMB is loading
Edit1: Tested again, freezes loading XMB in Rebug 4.84.2 REX with Cobra disabled as default, after rebooting all is working fine
Edit2: Fails too with CFW 4.86 Ferrox with Cobra disabled by default
Edit3: Fails too with CFW 4.84.3 STARBUGED with Cobra disabled by default
Edit4: I think i found the problem
Yeah. seems you are right and it happens to all CFW when Cobra is disabled..

For me though it is not fine after a reboot, had it happen 5 times in row. It will even freeze when left on the "didnt shut down properly" error screen. So its nothing to do with the XMB loading.

Sorry I have not much time today for testing.

Restoring the filesystem still fixes it, but I guess that it just because it removed the nocobra txt file, not sure.

If anyone wants to test, all you need to do is have wMM FULL installed, then rename the cobra payload via FTP on Rebug 4.84.2 REX, and then reboot. Exact same freeze.

I replaced webman plugin with SEN Enabler plugin, doesn't freeze anymore while XMB is loading this time.

@DeViL303 can you verify if this fails in your PS3 please?
  • Install files from my RAR in dev_hdd0 (attached below)
  • Install my CFW 4.87.1

It will load SEN Enabler plugin instead webMAN, press L1 + R1 to open menu.
This time must not freeze while XMB is loading.

EDIT1: If you remove boot_plugins_nocobra.txt, install the CFW, add boot_plugins_nocobra.txt again (with webftp_server_noncobra.sprx) and restart the PS3, it will freezes too

Does webMAN MOD freeze with "boot_plugins_nocobra.txt" if Rebug is installed?

I haven't seen any report about this issue. I would like to know if it is a bug to release a fix ASAP.

Yes, all you need to do to test on Rebug 4.84.2 REX is rename the Cobra payload via FTP and then reboot. For me it freezes.

Its the dex txt file though.

Are you using DEX?

The dex txt only loads on DEX. AFAIK Evilnat's firmware 4.87.1 is CEX.
So the file that should be loading is "boot_plugins_nocobra.txt", not "boot_plugins_nocobra_dex.txt"

Anyway I will try to reproduce it on Rebug 4.86.1 that is the CFW that I'm using now.

No, just normal REX, default options in rebug toolbox.

Yeah its strange its reading that txt file on CEX, but evilnat saw the same behaviour on other CEX CFW too, so maybe the issue is in the Cobra code on github? idk

I wouldnt be surprised if no one reported this bug before now, simply because no one ever disables Cobra.

@aldostools @DeViL303 The issue is with boot_plugins_nocobra.txt, freezes only one time after CFW installation, after that works perfect as always.

To reproduce the issue you need a CFW with nocobra payload in lv2_kernel.self

Steps
  • Install any CFW of your choice (optional, but not needed)
  • Install webMAN MOD with L1 pressed
  • Install CFW 4.86.1 Rebug with Cobra disabled as default
  • Freezes in XMB
EDIT1: @aldostools here is Rebug 4.86.1 LITE with Cobra disabled as default (tested and freezes too in my PS3): https://mega.nz/file/0R1yVDJK#jsZVg5XvXLDnJWm96_RJGWK3paKetONskYVZAARIK24

Its slightly different here. I am getting multiple freezes

Also it does seem that CEX CFW is also checking the boot_plugins_nocobra_dex.txt here. If you are coming from REX with wMM full, then you do not have any boot_plugins_nocobra.txt.

upload_2020-12-10_21-15-9-png.29107

When i installed webMAN MOD in Rebug REX it installed boot_plugins_nocobra.txt, boot_plugins.txt and boot_plugins_nocobra_dex.txt.

My compiled cobra doesn't search boot_plugins_nocobra_dex.txt, only boot_plugins_kernel_nocobra.txt and boot_plugins_nocobra.txt

50259051c39e1d85f1e90e61b6b933f8.png

Do you have DEX kernel in CFW Rebug? Maybe that's why it search for dex txt and freezes too, maybe freezes with both txt files: boot_plugins_nocobra_dex.txt and boot_plugins_nocobra.txt

@aldostools @DeViL303 The issue is with boot_plugins_nocobra.txt, freezes only one time after CFW installation, after that works perfect as always.

I tested removing and reinstalling webMAN MOD on Rebug 4.86.1:
1-The following files were created on the root of dev_hdd0 (among several other files in other folders):
boot_plugins.txt -> /dev_hdd0/plugins/webftp_server.sprx
boot_plugins_nocobra.txt -> /dev_hdd0/plugins/webftp_server_noncobra.sprx
boot_plugins_nocobra_dex.txt -> /dev_hdd0/plugins/webftp_server_noncobra.sprx

2-Disabled Cobra using Network > Custom Firmware Tools:
webMAN MOD nonCobra edition worked as expected on non-Cobra.

3-So, my conclusions are:

I) The freeze is not caused by webMAN MOD nonCobra (it's booting without freeze as Evilnat mentioned above)
II) The bug is in @habib "nocfw_kern_plugin" payload which is injected to lv2_kernel.self:

IMO The bug is reflected in webMAN MOD because currently it's unique plugin that uses boot_plugins_nocobra.txt

@Evilnat I suggest you to debug "nocfw_kern_plugin" to find out where it is freezing or simply enable Cobra like original Rebug.

I think the first time the previous lv2_kernel.self (or it's nocfw_kern_plugin) is referenced in some way. That would explain why the DEX payload is executed on DeViL303's CEX installation.

I wonder if this bug would happen installing twice the CFW with Cobra disabled.

EDIT:
The bug was actually in webMAN MOD's function that scans for content.
It has been fixed in webMAN MOD 1.47.32 with the help of EvilNat, DeViL303 & raidriar

I think the first time the previous lv2_kernel.self (or it's nocfw_kern_plugin) is referenced in some way. That would explain why the DEX payload is executed on DeViL303's CEX installation.

I wonder if this bug would happen installing twice the CFW with Cobra disabled.

I did the same steps as you and freezes the first time always with CFW recently installed (with nocobra payload in kernel), even installing twice the CFW with Cobra disabled, i don't know why it didn't freeze in your PS3. Did you installed CFW 4.86.1 Rebug LITE from my link or only disabled Cobra in your current CFW without installing a new one?

I debugged nocfw_kern_plugin, I have disabled the line that reads boot_plugins_nocobra.txt, issue is gone but no plugin will be enabled, didn't see anything weird in the code.

So, here are my tests with it, always with CFW recently updated and disabling stage2 the first time (with Network > Custom Firmware Tools):
  • nocfw_kern_plugin disabled load_boot_plugins = NO FREEZES
  • nocfw_kern_plugin enabled + boot_plugins_nocobra.txt + SEN_Enabler.sprx = NO FREEZES

Yes, it will install over any CFW CEX

My test was with the official Rebug Lite 4.86.1. The version that you posted introduce additional variables to the test.

I checked the code of nocobra payload. I didn't notice anything wrong either.

Anyway I will check the difference between wmm .27 and .28. But I still don't understand why wmm is launched from dex txt on DeViL303's console.

@aldostools I debugged webMAN MOD, and my PS3 (and maybe @DeViL303's too) freezes in line 501 of webMAN's main.c SRC:

sys_ppu_thread_create(&t_id, handleclient_www, (u64)START_DAEMON, THREAD_PRIO, THREAD_STACK_SIZE_WEB_CLIENT, SYS_PPU_THREAD_CREATE_JOINABLE, THREAD_NAME_CMD);

With that line commented the freeze is gone. Maybe inside handleclient_www there is something that cause my PS3 to freeze

I will continue debugging

In 1.47.31, please test commenting the line 126 of www_start.h:
// if(!payload_ps3hen) { ENABLE_INGAME_SCREENSHOT }

I think it could be causing the freeze

EDIT:
Find attached one version built with the line commented.

When i installed webMAN MOD in Rebug REX it installed boot_plugins_nocobra.txt, boot_plugins.txt and boot_plugins_nocobra_dex.txt.
This is strange. Maybe its down to my wMM installer version, but my webman installer was not installing boot_plugins_nocobra.txt.

I ran it loads of times and i would only get these 2 txt files.

But then I deleted those 2 txt files manually, and now when I run the installer it gives me all 3 files.
@aldostools I assume it was detecting that I already had one, and then skipping the txt file installation completely?.
Do you have DEX kernel in CFW Rebug? Maybe that's why it search for dex txt and freezes too, maybe freezes with both txt files: boot_plugins_nocobra_dex.txt and boot_plugins_nocobra.txt
No, all CEX here.

@Evilnat @aldostools @DeViL303

Thank you for all the efforts and all the time you have invested and which you continue to selflessly invest in this project (often to the detriment of your loved ones). YOU are the community! God bless you and may happiness accompany you through life.
Thank so much my friend, I appreciate it! :cheerful:

The previous plugin was compiled with the wrong flags:sem blush: (it was the full edition for Cobra)

If you want to try, here is the nonCobra edition with the line commented out and apply_remaps() disabled.

Don't worry, i saw it was the full edition, i'm compiling your code instead.

apply_remaps() works perfect, btw, following the trail, i'm in line 1216 from games_xml.h, and freezes in scan_mygames_xml(conn_s_p);,
