    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

after doing a few more tests i can tell my ps3 goes black screen if i select cobra fan control and dont reboot the ps3, after reboot it works normally, thank you all for the help

Can I immediately install CFW 4.88, having OFW 4.65 at the moment, using BG toolset?

Update to OFW 4.8x (not 4.88 though, not supported yet) then bgtoolset and CFW install. OFW's below 4.88 should still be available for download - if not from Sony.

are you using an SSD or a drive over 1 TB in size?

Has there been problems with CFW's and SSD's in general? Just wondering as I did install Evilnat 4.88 on my CECHM with SSD without problems.

I think that using an SSD on a PS3 is somewhat pointless; from what I've seen and read, the speed differences between a conventional HDD and an SDD are negligible on the PS3.

i got a ssd drive in my ps3 slim and no problems at all with evilnats cfw 4.88. :)
and it depends on the games and all, but for example installing all GT6 patches (ingame) takes more then a few hours less then with the HDD installed. for psn games, which run only from hdd/ssd it's a benefit for sure, even if sata1 is slowing it down, it's still faster and you will notice it.

of course i wouldn't buy a 50 euro ssd, to put it in my 50 euro ps3, but if you got one laying around, it's not a bad idea to add it to your ps3. not having the access noises from a normal HDD alone was worth it.

Yes, in general you're quite right, although with some games for example TRINITY some of the text just flashes on screen compared to regular spinner install. My main reason for SSD actually wasn't speed gains, but SSD's far lower operating temp compared to traditional spinner :) Kinda trying to mitigate some possible failure points as a fatty owner.

Maybe you should clarify that bguerville Toolset only works on firmware 4.82-4.87? And the fact that the firmware can only be installed after the patch via the bguerville Toolset.

Clarification would be a good idea. Toolset supports any 4.8x except 4.88 at the moment, according the ps3xploit website though.

First of all thank you so much for keeping PS3 alive. Great job!

Now regarding SEN Enabler, the release of this is very importand for casual multiplayer users like me. I don't use it for spoofing Psn access but only to delete history and syscalls. This tool has saved my @ss since the very beggining. I do not mod or sync trophies. No bans or whatsover. I use it with the exact method described bellow..

I always went to SENenabler. 1-delete history 2-select full OFW 3-exit to XMB 4-start the game - then I go to PSN from the game and play. WEBMAN controls the fan all the time from power on! this is not a problem if I have not tried it differently through SENenabler.

As far I know you can delete history and syscall from the webman mod options. I tried in the past to do the same thing from the webman mod option but after deleting history and syscalls there are still suspicious folders are visible to the xmb like webman games folder, Package manager folder, /app_home/PS3_GAME folder. This prevents to go online as I feel unsafe even thought might just be fine I am not confident to try it.

Is it safe though? Should I just wait for SEN Enabler ?

Is it safe in gta 5 and call of duty?

Thank you for this cfw. I stayed on Rebug for a long time now, but your new Cobra features are just too good to miss.

I have a question, though: I'm using sMan as launcher, and have disabled it's own dynamic fan control to try out the Cobra one. When I set the max temp to 70°C I would expect the fans to ramp up when nearing this temperature. Yet, sometimes nothing happens and then all at once the fans spin up from 30% to 50% or more, sounding like a small jet engine. Is this expected behavior? Or is this some incompatibility with sMan?

I have a question... If I have previous cfw 4.86 and I have installed hen trought hfw 4.88, can I install directly evilnat cfw 4.88 without flashing again the nand? I think with the hfw I can directly install it, is it right?

No, once you installed 4.88 HFW you lost your jailbreak and CFW will no longer install.

HFW is basically OFW. You will need to wait now for BG Toolset to be updated so you can flash the NAND again.

If you are ever in that situation again you should look for DB HFW, this is like HFW but it also has the ability to allow CFW to install over it again. So it keeps your jailbreak.

Perfect thank you so much :joyous:

I alphabetized the xmb content for evilnat 4.88 cobra 8.3. I changed the ascend + and descend -. I transposed them, so that it's, imo, easier to read. the arrow after alphabetical is the direction the content goes in, alphabetically speaking, instead of the way sony does it. game updates, dlc, and gamedata installs ascend from the top to the bottom.

Has there been problems with CFW's and SSD's in general? Just wondering as I did install Evilnat 4.88 on my CECHM with SSD without problems.
some seem to work okay except that they are not allowed to go full speed. if you have one that works and nothing else to do with it, go ahead if you want.

but others have problems due to PS3's lack of TRIM support. little errors build up and eventually the filesystem checks fail. sometimes maybe you would be forced to format.
