    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

Seeing that the BETA is working without issues on NAND and NOR, I have decided to make it public so that everyone can test it and comment if it works fine and the bugs that they had with some games have been fixed

This is the changelog for CFW 4.88.2 Evilnat Cobra 8.3 [CEX] [BETA]:
  • Fixed random issues in old Cobra 8.3
  • Avoids loading stage2 if its size is 0 or higher than 0x1FE00 in stage0 (Avoids brick on NAND and semibrick on NOR)
  • Added "Disable Syscalls" option in xai_plugin
  • Fixed some empty strings in xai_plugin
In case someone doesn't want to install the complete CFW, I have created the PKG that loads the new changes, it will load modified lv2_kernel and stage9.bin, Cobra will show as 9.99 if the PS3 beeps once

To load the original Cobra version of the CFW just restart the PS3

installed and tested WWE 2K14 ISO...working great!!!

I'll probably install it tomorrow. it will be my little project for the day. I just started playing dragon quest xi on the switch. I bought it on release day, and I had 2:45 on my clock (not even to the second town). I couldn't remember what I had done, so I started over earlier today (still in the first town exploring, but past the first dungeon though). :D anyway, I want to play tales of graces f on the ps3 as well, after my save got corrupted many years ago on another ps3 and on another firmware. not sure how it happened, but I have a sealed copy of graces f. I'm not going to open it, so I'll use the psn version:

I did have inFamous unninstalled because I finished it but I sent it over FTP and installed it again to try this out, did the same thing as before, after having the game running and quitting to the XMB I disabled the webmanmod fan control, enabled the dinamic fan control in the custom firmware tools menu and tried to launch the game again and it actually runs this time instead of getting stuck on a black screen, and changed the fan configs a couple of times just to see if it would constantly open the game again and it worked just fine, job well done!

i can wait for the FINAL 4.88.2

when all say´s OK . Then i´m downloading and installed in Recovery Modus.

The Beta cfw 4.88.2 is now incl. the Fixes

and Pkg are fixes himself for cfw 4.88.1 or ??

Check i not OR !! ??

it's not even 8 a.m. here, and I did what I promised: I updated to 4.88.2 @Evilnat . I personally didn't encounter any problems with the previous version, but I also didn't have any of those problematic games. I tested tales of graces f, and it worked no problem! :D it might've been my imagination, but it seemed like the game loaded up quicker than I'm used to (nearly instant). though, hearts on the vita loads up instantly with yamt, possibly storage manager as well, but I've never used that. ;)

Dear @Evilnat,

4.88.2 is working fine on my system (slim 2501).

If CFW Syscalls are fully disabled, the syscalls still cannot be restored through the Create Syscalls option in CFW Tools.

If the option "Allow Create Syscalls" is enabled, you can restore the syscalls using syscall 801:
http://localhost/syscall.ps3?801|/dev_flash/vsh/module/software_update_plugin.sprx
or
lv2syscall2(801, (u64) "/dev_flash/vsh/module/software_update_plugin.sprx", 0);

It is important to note that the Cobra options like "Allow Create Syscalls" only can be used when the syscalls are enabled. If the syscalls are disabled, the error message is not clear.

It would be nice if Show Temperature and Show Fan Speed could be combined in a single notification message.

Also it would be useful to include a new option for "Show Syscalls Status".

The new CFW Tools menu looks better, but sill there are some less frequently used options that would be better to be moved. I attached a proposed order.

@DeViL303 Ultimate Toolbox is breaking the CFW Tool in 4.88.2 due the new additions to
explore_plugin_full.rco

Someone correct me if I am wrong but given the fact that there are extremely few devs taking advantage of Ccapi, I am guessing that most Ccapi users are game modders who might choose it over ps3mapi to avoid compatibility issues with their game mods. Something like that..

Someone correct me if I am wrong but given the fact that there are extremely few devs taking advantage of Ccapi, I am guessing that most Ccapi users are game modders who might choose it over ps3mapi to avoid compatibility issues with their game mods. Something like that..

It could be a combination of reasons:
- CCAPI was first,
- If their tools already work with CCAPI, there is not reason to change.
- Maybe devs didn't get easily the wrapper PS3MAPI Lib. The file was unavailable for a time due NvZ closed his github. bucanero recently released an updated version of the wrapper, but I didn't see any news about it.
- Many users dislike webMAN MOD and don't want it as a dependency component (the DLL talks with a PS3MAPI service included in webMAN MOD).

The fact is that PS3MAPI has more features than CCAPI, but is less popular.

Can ps3mapi application be used or does it need webman

PS3MAPI is a series of opcodes in Cobra that can be called directly by any homebrew.
webMAN MOD is not needed to use PS3MAPI directly on the PS3.

Another component is "PS3MAPI Lib". It is a wrapper that uses the same API interface used by CCAPI, but instead of communicate with CCAPI or TMAPI, the lib communicates with a "PS3MAPI" service in webMAN MOD that calls the PS3MAPI opcodes in Cobra and performs the practically the same functions found in CCAPI.

Short answer: homebrews don't need webMAN MOD for PS3MAPI; RTM tools on PC require PS3MAPI Lib + webMAN MOD.

Hello, I have installed the beta and I have not had any problem, it seems that everything works well for me, the only thing that when installing the ultimate toolbox, some option of the xai plugin disappears, but only the letters, has it happened to someone else?
