    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

I can help with testing new Cobra on CECH-2004B model in next week. I bought it with Ferrox Cobra on board and as I see this model is not listed so I hope it helps you.

The CFW file downloaded from Mega seems to have some problem because everytime i try to uncompress it i get an error saying that the archive is either in unknown format or damaged

@datzun Do you mean for example: CFW 4.88.2 Evilnat Cobra 8.3 [CEX].rar ?

I tried to extract every *.rar archive as well as AIO *.zip on Linux and have no problem.
On Windows I used 7-zip and it extracted as well without problems.

Are you on WIN or LIN? It will be nice to know what kind of software you use too.

Windows do not extract *.rar files with its build-in extractor, so try 7-zip (it's freeware).
Here is a link:

Try to refresh your browser, clean the cache, or use private/incognito window or try another browser and download it again. Probably it will download and will extract without error.
To extract the archives use 7-zip as @Aoi suggested in her latest post.

First, thanks Evilnat for your work on this CFW. Really clean, non-bloated, smooth experience so far.
I have a question, hopefully you can answer, though. Is it possible to access the PS2 debug menu ?

I was on Ferrox Cobra before, and there was an option to access the debug menu and check/change which configs a game was using.

I have noticed a few PS2 games running slower than they did on Ferrox, so I want to be able to check that they are using the right config settings, and if not, change them.

Thanks :)

Found the button combination that works. Only issue is that there doesn't seem to be any config files with your version. Ferrox Cobra 4.87 would automatically have configs and settings loaded with certain games that need them.

EDIT: Ignore all that. Not sure what was happening then. Restarted and everything is now fine :)

No problem, stability of the recovery environment is paramount, any bug needs reported & ironed out.
I was merely trying to balance out the argument, let you know that the issue you have may or may not be a CFW bug & call for other users to report any issue with the recovery options so we can assess the situation.
Sorry for the late reply, yes man it would be greatly appreciated if you could report this problem to other users for testing, beyond all. Another thing could be related to the manual fan controller when it is over 40%, because I don't know why but in some apps like "MOVIAN" they stop otherwise with webman at 35% it doesn't happen. Once you put SYSCON Movían back on, and it works again.

PD:I have tried to rebuild the file system several times and without webman installed it does not give me any error.
So maybe the problem is in webman or fan controller activated.
Best Wishes and thanks again

Hi all

In MAJOR need of help. I have my PS3 as a custom build. Essentially I have gutted the console and mounted it in a PC case with a clear side panel and attached it to Laptop display with a driver board for the display. As part of this custom build I used the PC Case power button to power on the console when needed. This has had the undesired effect of removing my ability to boot into Safe mode.

This is where I have an issue.

I have been ignoring the warnings from the console to carry out the checks on the drive and now I have to restore the file system, usually not a problem, HOWEVER, it is now getting stuck at 35%. I mean STUCK. I left it for almost 2 hours like this.

Managed to get the console to display the "Connect controller via cable" screen and tried to reinstall the CFW however that froze at 98% for around 40 minutes. Force powered it off and rebooted it and get the Corrupt File System screen again.

Does anyone know of any other ways to force a safe mode boot on the console?

It's most likely related to the fan controller, it was designed for CFW & it is known to be source of issues on HEN.

You posted in the wrong thread!
Your enquiry has nothing to do with Evilnat's CFW 4.88 support.
You should create your own thread in the PS3 Help & Support sub forum.

Evilnat Good Morning!

How to enable PKG LINKER in CFW 4.88 Evilnat?

You need to include these queries in category_game.xml
Code:
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="pkg_link0" src="xmb://localhost/dev_usb000/package_link.xml#package_link"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="pkg_link1" src="xmb://localhost/dev_usb001/package_link.xml#package_link"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="pkg_link2" src="xmb://localhost/dev_hdd0/game/PKGLINKER/USRDIR/package_link.xml#package_link_game"/>

If you want you can use this xml:

If you are on Evilnat 4.88.2 you are on CFW, therefore you don't need ps3xploit. Your CFW can run homebrews permanently. Install a file manager like multiMAN, IRISMAN or ManaGunZ to copy/replace/move/delete your files.

webMAN MOD shows ps1_emu.self or ps1_netemu.self only for PS1 games, because the games can be launched with one of these emulators.

For PS2 you don't need PS2 Classics Launcher except if your PS2 games are .BIN.ENC
As you're on CFW, your PS2 games can play ISO (non-encrypted images) directly. They must be stored in /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO

About the PSP game, they require one of the launchers found here:

You should use either PSP Remaster or PSP minis after you mount a PSP game.
I recommend that install both launchers. Although most games work with both launchers, some games work only with one of them.

Download again and reinstall the PSP launchers if you're experiencing a black screen issue.
You could have a bad version of the PSP launchers installed.

Due a recent feature in webMAN MOD, the PSP launchers are locked until a PSP game is mounted. To unlock the launchers and be able to reinstall them, you first have to mount a game or perform this web command from the web browser: http://0/remap.ps3

Moved from Rebug 4.84.2 DEX to EVILNAT 4.88.2 about a month ago and have been overall loving it so far. Only running into two issues though, and if someone has answers or potential ideas on what do in order to fix / troubleshoot things I'd love to hear them.

1. Can no longer RIP PS2 or PS1 discs to my PS3NetSrv instance or to the local drive. PS3 discs works fine, the others fully lockup Multiman. Have tried fresh installing everything as well as variants of setting up PS3NetSrv with no luck on that front.

2. While using Remote Play to my Vita I can no longer launch officially unsupported games from ISO format. Obviously compatibility was hit and miss but I was never getting the general "Unsupported Content" etc. message before.

1. The latest ps3netsrv on my web site has been tested mainly with webMAN MOD.
If you experience issues try using deank's release of ps3netsrv: http://deanbg.com/ps3netsrv.zip

2. If I recall correctly Rebug had a LV2 patch to allow all games be playable through RemotePlay.
Maybe that patch is missing in @Evilnat CFW. You can try editing the PARAM.SFO of your games to explicitly add support for PSP Remote Play.

I have a CECHE01 ps3, installed evilnat 4.88 CFW, webMAN, have my dark cloud ISO in hdd0/PS2ISO, I can mount the game and launch it, the PLAYSTATION 2 logo shows up but then the system hangs on a black screen and doesn't do anything. I then have to quit the game by holding down the PS button on the controller and selecting QUIT GAME

I've tried reinstalling the CFW and webMAN but not able to get my PS2 ISO's to get into the game anyone have any advice?

EDIT:

I was able to fix this by using multiMAN and manually copying over the ISO I also deleted previously copied ISO's, I also mounted the iso from multiMAN but now able to play my PS2 ISOs!

This CFW is awesome, but is missing an useful option that rebug already had in the past for backwards compatible ps3s: by default ps2emu is set to soft, while in rebug it was set to soft only for non-bc consoles. In rebug you could also switch between ps2 emus in cfw tools.
