    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

It looks like you accidentally installed OFW.

To fix: install OFW 4.88 (it also can be HFW or any version between 4.80 and 4.88).
Then patch your console using ** www.** ** www.ps3xploit.net > D... (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com)/bgtoolset

Once you have patched your PS3, you can install Evilnat 4.88.2 Cobra 8.3.

I suggest you to try another PC and another pendrive to install a clean OFW 4.88, sounds like there's data corruption with what you have.
If you try doing that on another pendrive and PC and it's still the same, then at least you will know that there's a problem with your console, ruling out the PC/pendrive.

Hi - hoping for some help please!

I have been using Rebug and Evilnat's custom firmware, I also have PSNPatch & SEN Enabler installed, everything has worked fine and as expected for months and I could play online etc. However, when I was playing yesterday, my PS3 (fat) randomly black screened and a message popped up about a possible file corruption so I restarted my PS3 and it seemed it was still running as normal but the fan speed I could tell was booting up at 100% and would stay like that. I also found that I could then not load Multiman as it was saying 'warning it will interrupt the FTP session' - when I am not connected via FTP. I then browsed to my USB and reloaded the Evilnat latest custom firmware to see if a fresh install would help fix the problem, but again the fan is on 100% when I boot up my PS3 and there is some strange behavior. In my haste I decided to delete PSNPatch & SEN Enabler as I don't think they are needed now that I have the Evilnat custom firmware running on my Rebug FW. When I reboot the PS3 it still pops up on the top right of the screen about PSNPatch disabling PSN, BUT, I deleted PSN Patch so I don't understand what's happening and now it won't let me online or load my games using Multiman.

I wondered if anyone has had this issue before and any suggestions how to fix (without going through the whole jailbreaking process again if possible!)

Thanks in advance!

I think there is a mess in your description. You are either on rebug or evilnat. If the second is true, you don't need sen enabler. Besides, there is no sen enabler 4.88 version. Install evilnat again, and it has built in sony network disabled. All you need to do is disable cfw syscalls and you can then connect.

1. The psnpatch plugin is still installed even after you uninstalled the app, that's why you see the pop up on boot.
You can uninstall the plugin by editing /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt & removing the line corresponding to the psnpatch.sprx file. After reboot, the plugin will not load anymore.
2. In Evilnat's 4.88.2 CFW you can no longer connect to PSN if the custom syscalls haven't been disabled, use the cfw tools option to disable syscalls (or use another tool to do it) then you can connect to PSN. Of course, you will no longer be able to use homebrews as long as the custom syscalls are disabled. You can use a homebrew (like multiman or whatever) before connecting to PSN or after, once psn is disconnected you can re-enable custom syscalls. All this is to protect your PSN account & console idps from a possible ban.
3. If your console is a CECH-L model, the 100% fan on boot issue is a specific problem with that model & webMAN-MOD dynamic fan control, it has nothing to do with the firmware. No other model is affected. If it is the case, bad luck for you, nobody has found a fix except disabling webman dynamic fan control.
There is a recent experimental way to modify the system fan curve table permanently that could be a way to get better fan control without needing webMAN-MOD's feature.
If you are interested, you might want to check the specific thread about "syscon fan settings tutorial" to get an idea but I say it again, it appears to work great but at this stage it's still considered experimental & the tools available are still a bit raw afaik, use at your own risk.

Thanks for the support and kind detail! It is just strange, I have been using Rebug for well over a year including PSN Patch & SEN Enabler. Then 4.88 came out and eventually I was using Evilnat final beta as he kindly sent me his final test version that was sent out to people to try out before he finally issued it, so I loaded it onto my USB and just installed it over the top of Rebug. I kept using PSN Patch and had to do the normal button sequence to unlock PSN once I had booted my PS3 and loaded my game via Multiman. All working as normal for months! Then, randomly it black screened as I was playing with the corruption warning and now I can't fix it so that it is working as normal again and the fans are loud - I never had a fan issue until yesterday and I have made no changes to cause it, very strange!

Sorry I should have been clearer in my OP. Any other ideas what I could do to fix this?

Fan issues are 100% unrelated with the firmware.
Without dynamic fan control enabled on CFW, the fan is controlled by the syscon independently from the OS.
With dynamic fan control enabled on CFW, the fan is governed by a payload enabled/disabled by webMAN. Disable dynamic fan control in webman & the syscon will be in charge once again.

As to the black screens it could happen for any number of reasons, it is impossible to tell what the problem is without at least some debugging logs & possibly some testing & diagnostics.
It could be a user error (you doing something wrong somehow or not doing something you should), spoofing or using mods can lead to black screens.
But it could also be homebrew related or hardware related. Issues with the CFW itself are always possible but very unlikely, black screen issues when starting games would already have been reported time & again by now.

Hdds are known to fail from time to time & can give this sort of issues, if I were you I would try reinstalling the 4.88 CFW with another internal hdd to see if you still get black screens. It's only for testing, you can always put back your old disk if nothing changes.
If it doesn't solve the issue, you will need to provide us with Cobra debug log output taken during a black screen to see if anything comes up that may help identifying the issue.

Thank you. Very kind one again! I will look into it! Thanks again bguerville

No problem, that's what the forum is for. ;-)
If you need help getting logs or whatever else, just create your own thread (unless it's to report a Evilnat CFW 4.88.2 issue specifically), someone will help.

Congratulations @Evilnat, @aldostools, and everybody that contributed to this amazing CFW!. I've just updated my PS3 with it and started to mess around with it.

The only feature that I couldn't get to work was the:
  • Restore CFW Syscalls without reboot just entering to 'Settings > System Update' on XMB (by aldo)
I've enabled it in the Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools, disabled the syscalls in the PSN section, and then went to Settings > System Update but the syscalls weren't restored. Had to restart my PS3.

My installed hombrew tools are:
  • webMAN MOD 1.47.36
  • Ultimate Toolbox 2.03

You first need to turn ON the option allow restore syscalls.

Anyway the option must be used with caution (e.g. logoff from PSN before restore the CFW syscalls).

The safest way to restore the syscalls is using the old method (restart the PS3).

Hey, please I have a question, you see, is it possible to add the Rebug CFW options to the trophies in a next update?
★ Unlock
★ Delete

It is the most complete CFW but for trophies you have to install Rebug 4.84 to remove some trophies or unlock them, it would be wonderful if you include it in an update for users who cannot collect their trophies in a PSN account, I tried using Apollo but the truth is that it gives you problems because when unlocking the trophies it does not give you the correct percentage, the only thing that works for me is to make a backup. Or is there a way to add these options manually to evilnat 4.88.2? Please tell me and congratulations

good suggestion but I believe it is possible only with DEX

I think you are right because in rebug there are two versions:
Rex or Cex
D-Rex or Dex
I don't know the much but, I think their CEX version was a hybrid between CEX and DEX but not as advanced as for developers. The thing is that as we know Evilnat 4.88.2 has the option to convert savedatas and in some games when converting and copying them the trophies are "damaged" and it does not allow you to enter the game until you delete them and this is only possible with Debug Settings but delete them all. I hope they can implement this, if they managed to put file manager in the XMB I think everything is possible
