4.93 EVILNAT (Cobra 8.5)

PS3 4.93 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 - (CEX/PEX/D-PEX) 4.93

Sorry mate I haven't seen your comment until now

My gameboot is the default one, I have not modified it

The problem is that if we can enable disc support on non BC PS3 (I don't know if this is possible yet and maybe it is impossible to do), the game will be laggy or with issues because those PS3 models don't have the necessary hardware to play them

You can encrypt them again with scetool with template:

scetool -t original.self -e decrypted.self output.self

Now ps2_netemu with RSX and CPU temps payload researched by @3141card was added to Cobra, credits to him have been added to the code itself, thank so much for all your work!

For example, the string with the current temperature values can now be configured easily with assembly code. There may be changes in the future

@aldostools I will add all my patches to my Cobra repository when everything is finished and tested

I mean the disc drive should be fast enough but maybe the software emulation adds overhead. Since running code of a disc should just act like running of every other source. Just slower and with more read latency. I mean we already can force it to read unencrypted files from another location. Pointing that to the drive should be easy? Maybe I'm not thinking that through though. That would be something to test if we ever get this far.
Finding snippets like this in the elf file makes me hopefull though. (see attachment)
Edit: That seems to be an integrated PS2 BIOS. False Alarm then.

Do you have your netemu with permanent debug uploaded somewhere? I would love to poke around in it with a hex editor.

Also thanks for the info with the encryption with template. Now i can finally change CELL to CBE in honor of the PS2 EE ^^

The other thing we still have to look at is the memory card assignment ingame. Is that maybe possible to port over?

Edit 2: Maybe more around here. It's a section that doesn't exist in GX emu

Edit 3: The SCE Tool i use doesn't seem to have the keys for 4.90. Is there a way to extract them from a real PS3?

My trophies aren't syncing anymore, I tried rebuilding the database, but with no luck. Does anyone else experience the same problem? Didn't have this problem on Evilnat 4.89, I just updated to evilnat 4.90 now I got this issue. Any help is appreciated.

Is the PS2 debug stuff in the next release? I tried a PS2 game on my PS3 just to test it but no debug setting were available.
I don't really use my PS3 for PS2 much because of PS2 to HDMI but I was just curious.

Also, since the subject of modding/patching ps2_netemu is being asked, is is possible to disable the bilinear filter in 720p?

Yes, it's for 4.90.2

You don't mean the smoothing right?

So you can use EvilNat's CFW to disable syscalls from the XMB. Suggest finding a anti-ban eboot as COD still gets folks banned to this day. BO1 is safe but 2 & 3 still ban folks quite often. Since GTAV is offline it is certainly the main game folks get banned playing. Good idea to not use your main account as it goes across all systems.

Rebug isn't making CFW anymore as there hasn't been a DEX OFW since 4.84 so Nat ported it over for others on 4.89 & 4.90 if you want to stay DEX or just convert back to CEX first.

ahh got you, yeah when it comes to actually doing my thing on COD i am sure ill get back up to date fast enough. And yeah, made that mistake when i was young back on mw3 never do online mods with my main now ahah.

so would you recommend this 4.90 EvilNat CFW for DEX? it should work like rebug or ITA ( used to love PSita CFW) i really don't want to go back to CEX if i can help it though. Back when i was falling off it all and cappi was taking over mappi DEX was still RTM king you know.
but yeah just getting online and on a game with a functioning CFW and RTM is the key for now, seriously really appreciate the info.

I just noticed some different behavior with the music player.
In the previous FW I was using you could press the PS button and go back. Now it just asks if you want exit the music player.

What gives? I miss being able to play another track without having to stop music.

I will do it ;)

Do you mean PSX/PS2 Action Replay ISO?

There is a toggle option in xai_plugin that works with Cobra, you will be able to enable or disable coldboot animation

I will look about disable photo editor

Yes i mean the PS1 Action Replay 2.30 USA. On 4.88 it works fine with Netemu, with 4.90 it wont start. The Ps1 Boot screen will not sow up, it ends in a black screen.

I was thinking a bit about PS2, is there a specific reason why the netemu only upscales to 720p while the other emus can do 1080p upscaling?

Im trying to CFW fat ps3, after getting verify dump i have 1 warning: Following check(s) returned a WARNING!
011.02 cell_ext_os_area 0xFF Filled Area 0. it is safe to continue?

Try to take the dump again. If you still get the warning flash the latest firmware twice (OFW 4.90 if using bgtoolset, HFW 4.90.1 if using flash writer) and try again. You shouldn't get any warnings.
