PS3 Abnormally high temps on newly delidded ps3 slim !!!!

Hello every one

Thank you in advance for passing by ..

Quick info..
PS3 Model CECH-2504B
Motherboard JSD-001 ( 1-882-770-11 )
CPU CXD2992AGB
GPU CXD5300GGB
Heat Sink type 5 revision 5
33 days use time, unopened before i opened it judging by the dry old thermal paste, some light dust and intact warranty seal

A little background
A while back i saw my ps3 was getting 84°C on the rsx and 77°C on the cpu on syscon.

So i openned it, cleaned it and Changed the thermal paste on top the IHSs ( With MX-6, made sure ot's original ) and set webman fan to auto at 68°C .. i kept getting 45-80% fan while playing games like watchdogs which led me to believe a delid is a must .. after weeks of extensive research i realized my ps3 can be delidded on both cpu and rsx ( based on their model numbers )

So eventually i just delidded my ps3 .. and it went fantastic. No scratches no knocked components ( mind you this is my first try )
I changed the thermal paste on top and below the IHSs with MX-4 for ease of spread ( made sure it was original )
But now I'm still getting high temps .. really high !! It almost seems like there is no difference !!

The following results are after the delid.
Playing god of war III on syscon gave me 81° RSX and 68°C CPU at 29% fan speed

I changed webman fan settings to max at 68
I get 68°C RSX and 62°C cpu with 68-70% fan speed ( this is idling at menu screen not even playing ) it also idles at 62°C cpu and 63° RSX with 34% fan speed

Basically delidding and risking it didn't solve this !!

Anyone know what i should do. I don't want to undervolt it as i plan to overclock it reasonablly on it's current voltage. ( I also don't know how to undervolt correctly .. would rather not mess with it )
And i saw many people who had cpu die break with ereaser mod so I will not try it.

I don't the the heat sink is warped .. but there was something fishy about it. The gpu heatsink has a little play to it while the cpu heatsink part was fully fixed in place.
Either that or I'm not getting enough airflow .. whatever it is i want my ps3 to have good temps like the others ( maximum 64°C while playing TLOU with 24% fan )

Someone suggested i use a 15x15x0.1 mm copper shim between the dies and their IHSs to make better contact but i fear the same results as the ereaser mod
I tried uploading the photos but they were too large ..

I'm think of changing the heat sink type 5 revision 5 with type 5 revision 1 .. which is bigger and was meant to be used with the 65nm cell and rsx or revision 2 maybe.
Are the heat sinks interchangeable or are there some physical imitations that won't allow it to work

If anyone has a suggestion/solution kindly let me know I've reached my end of the rope ..

Thabks again everyone ..

I don't like kessing with code because it's not what i am good with even if there are many tutorials .. + i plan to ocerclock it reasonably with regards to current voltage ..
+ Undervolting doesb't fix the main issue. What is causing the rsx to now be able to cool down !! What is causing it to heat this much !

Hmmm. ok, let us throw some ideas around.

Here is a reddit link to dudes having the same issues as you, see if anything applies in your case.
They recommended this,
Might come in handy for your case, and i only recommend the youtube video, not the coin thing.

Here is the ifixit teardown.

See if you missed anything, or maybe the plate that holds down the cpu and gpu isn't flat as it should be, could be fan connector not all the way in. That sort of stuff. the tear down might help you pin-point something you missed.

Sorry this is all the info i can offer given what i know about your current situation at this point.

Best of luck and let people know if any of these helps. Since people can search forums for answers, people who might be in the same situation as you.

One more addition to that is. I would not recommend sanding your heat sync, this was just to show, that you maybe experiencing heat issues due to the heat sync not being level. and the thermal paste not making contact at certain points.

I already checked this video and i am suspecting the heat sink. I think mine is straight when checked with a small razor.
But i suspect the heat sink because it's a 2 part design .. the fins block and a base plate .. nsc also has a video wherhe he disassemles another heat sink that is 2 parts. Between them was also thermal paste !!!

Is there a way to call high ranking memebers or other people with more experience. I've never heard of a ps3 that's overheating after a delid. Could you some solid advice !

To anyone who might see this post oneday. Looking for answers.
My ps3 had type 5 revision 6 heat sink ( as of now this revision 6 heatsink is not on the ps3 dev wiki. )
I exchanged this heat sink with revision 5 and now i get extremly good temps.
With the cover on playing Watchdogs " graphic intensive game " i get 59-61 on the cpu + 67-68°C on the rsx with 40% fan previously it was 80% .. and if i remove the top cover ( increase airflow ) i get 57-59 on the cpu + 65-68°C on the rsx with 25% fan speed ( lowest configured )
So for anyone with a slim that is over heating after a delid .. get your self a new heat sink from a different revision but be sure it fits your ps3 slim model.
Also keep in mind all ps3 slims have severly restricted airflow. You might need to mod the case inorder to cool it better.

Best of luck everyone
