PS2 Black screen when loading some games on OPL

Hi guys, I just bought a free mcboot memory card. I puted some games in the usb stick and using OPL to launch them, some works fine, some other games just remain in a black screen. How do I get those games to run?

Another problem is when I run Castlevania curse of darkness: the game is ok but when there are cutscenes the audio in doubled, resulting in a strange eco, so annoying, how I do fix this?

Thans everybody :D

What are those other games that gave you problem?
Anyway, try using Mode 1 or Mode 2 or both to see if it might fixed it?
Try Mode 6 too as well.

As for your second problem, well it can't be helped.
Welcome to the age of USB 1.1. The transfer speed just wasn't fast enough for FMVs.

Ok I'll try some of the modes. ABout the games who won't work, they are Metal slug 5 (USA), Sly Racoon PAL, Gradius 3 e 4, Thanks :D

EDIT: if I run games from an internal ssd, that audio problem woul be solved? Anyway, mode 1,2 and 6 doesn't change anything.

Yes, it was the most recommended. USB just simply "the bottom of the barrel" in terms of OPL storage modes.

If those modes didn't fix those games, I want you to check the hashes of the ISO with tools like WinMD5 from these pages: Metal Slug 5 (USA) Sly Raccoon (PAL) Gradius III & IV (Don't know which version you have so there's links for NTSC and PAL versions)
Just to make sure if your ISO dump is good.

You can activate all of them at once if you want to.
However I recommend to only activate the 1, 2, and 6.
Still, I recommend you to check your ISOs with the WinMD5 like I said.

Metal slug 5 works with mode 1,2 and 6. Sly and Gradius still not works.
I checked Sly Racoon with WinMD5 as you said, and the MD5 code doesn't match. So basically the my iso is not a good one?

Basically yes.
How about the Gradius one? Doesn't match too?

EDIT: For gradius you have to check the source of your BIN file before you converted it to ISO for OPL since it was a CD game.

Thank you :)

I tried many other games, and using mode 1,2,6 most of them works fine. The only ones I am still having problems are Sly Racoon pal (i found another iso that match with the code), gradius 3 e 4, Virtua cop both pal and j-ntsc, ganvari + time crisis j-ntsc, onimusha 1. Theese games just won't works no matter what settings I change. I didn't see all of the,, but some have the code matched. In the case on SLy racoon for example, how can I make it work?

Since you bought your FMCB-MC, you should make a new/fresh install on an empty original SONY MC and use the newest official OPL Beta build... and you should turn Debug-colors in OPL's settings on!

Also try with different OPL versions, I never had problems with Sly Raccon and Gradius games from any device. I don't remember even the need to enable MODEs with those (also a not perfectly compatible USB device could be cause of issues).

Rhanks you guys, in fact I just updated to the latest beta OPL version and most of the games now works fine. The only two game s I can't make run are gradius 3 e 4, and Virtua copElite Edition

Did you convert the BIN files to ISO yet? You can't use the BIN file as-is with OPL.
You have to convert it to an actual 2048-bytes/sector ISO files (and no, just renaming the BIN to ISO won't work if that's what you're doing).
You can convert it with ISOBuster or commandline tools like ISO9660 Analyzer Tool (iat).

I used OPL manager to convert the bin file to iso, for virtua cop I tried both the japanes eversion and the pal one.

Tried Virtua Cop and it boots here
Tested with OPL Beta 1.2.0 2048

Only tested the Japanese version but should be same with the European version
Even without any modes enabled

You might have PADEMU enabled so should try to disable that first

Gradius III&IV still remains unbootable though, even with any modes

What did you use to convert thebin to iso?

Ah I forgot to specify what I used to convert it to
I used ISO9660 Analyzer Tool (iat)

The tools are mainly for Linux but there are Windows binaries available

EDIT: Tried Gradius III & IV on internal HDD and it works there.
No need to roll back to previous OPL version even, works on 1.2.0-Beta-2048.
And no modes enabled.

Probably the fact that some games won't run is because I am running games from a USB Hard Drive, I'll by the internal hard disk adaptor adn i'll be good
