PS3 Building the ultimate air cooled PS3 and need help with arduino... i think...

ugh... where to begin this will be a bit of a rant but the devil seems to be in the details... I'll eventually do a project post on here so I'll save the full details of the project for it, essentially I've fattened the case and made it taller, added more fans and heat sinks, completely changed the airflow more sound proofing, successfully converted to ATX PSU and all sorts (even though there wasn't much info on my 3 pin PSU variant), I'm really proud of it and once completed will look really cool and perform very well, i managed by some miracle to get a cechk03 with only 88 days runtime never opened for £46 on ebay after my first machine YLOD'd before I could save it... I got this baby down to about 47C at idle on the standard overclock on evilnat (I think it's like 650 rsx 750 vram?) I couldnt' do any testing though because somehow during the project something on the bluray drive has stopped being recognised. before i made any case mods i converted the 88 day ps3 to evilnat (4.91.2 OC cobra 8.5) loaded up irisman and webman got a ps1 game on there and played a quick round of Worms Armageddon just make sure everything actually worked and wasn't going to be difficult to figure out after the build... it ran fine, I began dismantling, took the BD drive out, taped over the ffc connector with electrical tape. put it to one side, it didn't receive any knocks or bangs, the cable went in a carboard box and... wasn't particularly protected in honesty, but wasn't in any particular danger from anything else in there being a safe place for various parts. I got the point a few weeks ago where I was finally ready to do some testing and it fired up fine but the BD drive wasn't working, I've tried numerous solutions AI has been completely useless and landed me in a boot loop which I've now managed to resolve by doing the HDD pull trick just before it enters the update. I've purchased a little test rig ps3 with a dead BD drive and replicated the exact conditions of it because I'm scared witless I'm going to brick this fairly immaculate example I've stumbled across. At some point I'd conceded the BD drive is dead which why it's now on a no BD version of evilnat 4.92 which could be the reason it's now not emulating the drive? and I need to go back to the non bd version... I just don't know... please help.

in preparation for this I've purchased way too much foolishly trusting multiple AI's and am now at a point where i think i can safely say i don't know what to do. so... already here i have a Leonardo mega 32u4 arduino with jumpers and data cable... no idea how to use it i cant seem to find anything resembling a guide on setting up the jig or what code to use to put it into fsm... if i even need to enter fsm? I've got a YLOD ps3 on it's way which should have a working daughterboard I can trust.

I've got a new FFC cable ready to ideally install once and then never touch once installed, and an extended power cable, and where the main ps3 (Tank, i know it's not original but it does look like a tank lol) is fatter I'm aiming to make a little compartment for the daughter board and tuck it out the way.

i guess the main thing I'm looking for is a bit of a sanity check and someone to confirm what my best course of action is here, I have a ps3 I'm not overly fussed about killing (Echo as it's an echo of tank but smaller xD) so if I do need to do something experimental i can practice first any help is greatly appreciated, I've tried looking everywhere for solid info but can't find anything.

When this fourth PS3 turns up I'll have 4 possible daughter boards to choose from so I'm hoping out of them I'll be able to find at least one working board, or that this is is just that I have 3 dead cables... but Tank's original cable had never been touched and I was gentle with it. Ai suggested perhaps the flash of the BD itself is corrupted?

I've added a couple of progress pics for a teaser, this was a little tape mock up but it's all connected up now, it'll need finishing panels and a bit more work to get it looking good, but I'll detail all that in a proper post :)

cheers

one thing i forgot to add, the only slight possibility the BD drive could be damaged is, I drilled out the mounting holes, but I did it gently and there wasn't any significant vibration on the housing or pressure, or any sudden movements or anything, just drilling straight through the plastic to make the holes wider.
