i am using a CECHLxx model ps3 running CFW 4.86.1 Rebug Lite April fools edition and am using the HDMI slot. as stated above when i try to run any ps3 game rip either as a folder or as a iso it will complain that the game is corrupted, but i checked it using a ird checker with the correct file and all the files are there(except the ps3 update.pup), it will even run under a ps3 emulator(it will run but will run terribly as the ps3 emulator does not support the game fully). i also can not get any ps2 game to run as even if it says it will run without issues shown on the ps2 compatability list on the ps3 developers wiki on archive.org, all it will do is resize the screen with a black screen with rainbow shown in the corner, i have also tested the game i was trying under a ps2 emulator and it will also run fine.

Is your BD drive working?
Can you play games on BD discs?
If not, that's most likely the cause of your problems.

Where do you store the isos or JB folder games? Internal hdd? External hdd with MBR partition? Formatted in Fat32? Ntfs? How do you copy the files there? What backup manager do you use to mount the games?

Use PS3 games for your tests, ps2 emulation could complicate matters pointlessly.

the blueray drive does work, and i have test that it can play games both before and after the cfw was installed. i have tried running the games both on a usb that was formatted fat 32 with 32 allocation size and transferring the games to the internal harddrive, i have also tried transferring the files to the internal hardrive using ftp also no dice. the backup manager i have tried using is multiman, irisman and webman but they could not launch the game, all saying the game was corrupt.

Try this -
Put a PS3 disc in BD
Install MultiMan (if not already installed) and launch into it
- you should see your game in the games column
- hit the triangle and choose COPY DISC to hdd
*I am not in front of my PS3 at the moment so the wording might be off but copy the disc to hdd as ISO
Once completed, in MultiMan you will see 2 versions of the game
- one is the BD disc in the drive
- other is the ISO image on hdd
Select the new ISO image and click X to mount it

Does it play?
If no, you might want to try a new CFW
If yes, then the issue is the why you are packing, storing, creating the JB content of your discs that are not direct copies

Where do the game rips come from?
How did you make them exactly?
Did you verify them using ird files?

yeah, check the ird definitely. I just copied my last ps3 game, star ocean the last hope. I checked the ird of the iso, and everything was fine except no ps3 update pup (unneeded for your copies). :-P I booted up the iso, and it installed trophy and game data. then, I got to the title screen, so it looks like it's working. that's the extent of the testing I did. that was last week when I was doing stuff on the ps3 and the 360 at the same time. it's probably the last game I'll install on the system. don't have that many games, maybe 50, and they're all on the internal hdd (no external hdd for me). :D

The physical game i am testing with (specifically the infamous collection) shows up in ps3 game menu but does not show up in either the games menu in multiman(showing up as mcmm) or in the file manager of multiman. what do i do to fix this

i have check the game file in multiple stages such as when it is a jb folder(also a random question pops up why are they called jb folders?) when i convert it to iso and when i put it on the usb flash drive, everything is report to be fine and all files are there except the update.pup which seems to be unnecessary. the ird folder was retrieved from http://jonnysp.bplaced.net/

i was mistaken it does work, i just have to put the disc in after running mcmm.

I don't know why they're called jb folders, but jb is supposed to stand for jailbreak. on the 360, they're usually called jtag rips, even if using an rgh. the name just kinda stuck in both scenes.

I think ps3 users started to use "jb folder" because in 2010 the term "jailbreak" was popular due the iphone jailbreak by geohot.

Then CFW users continued using the term to refer to the games in "folder format", specially when Cobra added support for ISO format.
