Can't Recover Ps3

Forum Noob
So I just recently got console banned. no big deal except I play online with a friend from out of state weekly. No mods. No cheating. Well I tried doing a lot of things I had read to try and one of the sources had said to do a file restore. I did this and come to find out my CFW was not installed properly. I proceed to let it restore and then i get a freeze. Also, I had tried to enable qa flags to downgrade, which was my initial issue. Even when i downloaded the pkg, debug settings wouldnt appear and i was still unable to qa flag. So, in a frenzy, i plugged in the hard drive to my computer and formatted it. Now im stuck on what to do. Do i need an E3 flasher to downgrade from where im at? And also, does ccapi legitamitely change your idps? every time i would attempt to log in it would give me error code 80010017.

You shouldn't need an eflasher or anything. You just need to reinstall CFW. For q/a flag, I suggest installing Rebug. Go into rebug toolbox and set q/a flag then reboot once and you should be able to downgrade.

(yes)"
"Until further notice, please rmain on this firmware. vist **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) for new exploit announcements regarding newer firmware versions."
Someone please help me i don't know if i got banned if i did how do i undo it like by changing my cid if i need to

If you read fully, i was not able to. weirdly enough, i formatted the drive right? didnt run it through aldostools. It didnt even touch OFW as far as im concerned. i was able to put the rebug update in the file i needed to and loaded it up normally. does rebug permanently set it to be able to recover from a CFW? so i wouldnt have to run the exploit again i mean.

For better resolution share your PS3 sku model number along with the software version you are on.

BTW it's a wrong section , you should post the thread in help & support section

That's a feature of HEN and ps3xploit. It is to prevent people from updating and losing HEN. 4.86 is the most recent firmware.

If You was on CFW before, let's say, problems, and You did clean HDD, then shouldn't be a problem to install any CFW as long match to TargetID (CEX/SEX, DEX, GEX etc.) and version in syscon (e.g 4.86; only on QA flagged consoles You are be able to write any fw version).

i formatted the drive right

You couldn't "formatted wrong" because PS3 doesn't care about any logic on HDD besides her own (custom partition table, a lot of partitions with different filesystems/no filesystems like FAT16, FAT32, UFS2; all encrypted per unit keys).

so as far as model, it is a cech-2051a. And sorry, berion, i meant like you understand me, right? like that. i forgot to be punctually correct cuz it's frustrating on a keyboard at times.

Also, would downgrading or anything like the sorts change my CID? I'm not entirely mad about a console ban cuz as we all do, i'm sure, i had a couple backup consoles. But with this specific model i've wanted to get into its computing guts and truly understand the capabilities of what CFW can do so i am testing out otherOS and downgrading. previously, my console wasnt able to qa flag because i think there was an issue with the writing of the CFW. i was going through 6-8 crashes a day asking me to plug in my controller and all this other crazy stuff that happened. now that i've used aomei partition manager to write zeros on the whole drive, and reinserted it, it's worked. it's weird that CFW can retain itself even after a format of a drive. is it held inside the ps3? that's i guess another question i have as well. and if so, where? and how would you access such info? Would that be the nand or whatever else each console has?

Yes, firmware is installing on NAND/NOR flash, not on HDD. In case of models with NOR memory, on HDD are some resources and user data which was before on NAND. If You overwrite first 18KiB, for PS3 it is like clean HDD. ;)

I thinking that You couldn't "install CFW wrong". If PUP package would be unpacked corrupted, then You will be unable to install firmware. If You would have i.e bad sector on HDD in place of unpacked PUP, then again You wouldn't be able install fw because probably all TARs are checking before "untarballing" start. However I never check any of this info so I could be wrong. Some CFW smith opinion is need here. ^^

For future: the easiest and best way to QA flag Your console is using Rebug Toolbox on Rebug CFW (the best CFW all the time IMO). I don' know how CCAPI works so I don't know what it's done but maybe this is another issue factor. Anyway, still the rules I listed in my above comment are valid and I think there is nothing more left which could block Your from installing fw from service mode (it is recovery officially named; do not mislead with factory service mode).

So, sorry for not responding in some time. Messing with HEN atm and it's become a hassle with the new update. Anyway, I honestly couldn't tell you what happened there... i was completely unable to QA flag anywhere. I even looked up resources and pkgs that might help enable if I needed it. Nothing. All it took was for me to reinstall the CFW properly (which I have been doing but I guess not?) and the option finally came up. Mind you, I'm on 4.86 rebug lite and had the toolbox installed. But, I will also say, I had a lot of crashes when it was first installed, and now with the fresh formatting and reinstalling Rebug, runs like a charm for the most part. I wasn't getting the selector options in the toolbox so I think something got written to the NOR/NAND wrong in the process, which I haven't seen anyone else run into the same issue. Now that it's fixed, I wonder what was happening there. Have you heard of anything like a jailbreak not writing something properly to the PS3? At that point it would make me think it wouldn't function or run at all, with all the exploit running constantly.
