PS3 CECH-2504A shuts down after a few seconds

For blue light i mean the one that indicates that a disc is insterted/being inserted in the ps3.

EDIT: Checked the battery voltage, around 3.12V. Guess it's okay?

Honestly, the CMOS battery won't cause this kind of panic shutdown.
And I'm pretty sure there isn't a blue led on the ps3... It has green, yellow and red... But not blue...

EDIT: Just tested this... I don't have any blue light anywhere on my PS3 when inserting a game disk...

I need to clarify this... "early" slims (25xx ones, with shiny power/disk base and buttons) have the blue drive led, it's near the eject button

Tested again today without the BD drive, same issue with blinking blue "disk drive" led

Ahhh, ok. My bad. Mine is 3xxx slim. And only other ps3s I own are all fat models. Just something I've never seen before

Me neither, i dont remember any hardware error where the eject blue led blinks
The only times i remember that the blue led blinks is when i try to boot a game (but the game have some problem), so the firmware crashes/freezes... and i press the power button to force a shutdown
At that point the blue led blinks (and the buzzer does some "beep" "beep" 2 or 3 times), then the PS3 shutsdown

And based on this... have you tryed to disconnect the flat cable that goes to the front panel ? (with the power/eject buttons, etc)
Im wondering if you are having a "phantom" contact in the power button (so the PS3 is forcing a shutdown automatically)

*You can turn ON/OFF the PS3 with the "PS" button of the dualshock3 (without the switchs board)

I'm sure it isn't a power connector issue, but i'll give it a try

I'll take one later if i can, but dunno the ps3 will panic shutdown only for the bd drive

Sorry, been busy these days, here you go:

Dead thread...? I definitely need some help here
did you try this? i also thought it might be the problem.

Tried disconnecting the "power and eject buttons" board, and turning it on with a controller: same exact problem

Alright guys, big news here:

After countless things i tried, i figured out that the problem is either the CELL/BE or the RSX processor, probably due to overheating. Is there anything i can do now in order to make it work again?

EDIT: I tried reflowling the processors, but it only worked for around a minute or two

If you don't have any good way to reball both cpu and gpu just delid but use jig for motherboard.Very careful with pressure on cpu /gpu Use thermal silicone back for cpu on edge . One day I will create the most common way to fix ps3 . That will take reball because everyone is deliding not thinking of pressing bga will crack/disconnect solder balls.

On gpu ram use some thermal paste less liquid then mx4. On both ic die can be mx2 or mx4.One day I will create the most common way to fix ps3 . Sounds a bit like self-promoting, but thanks anyway for the tip. I'm avoiding repair services (as i don't have enough money sadly) for now, i'll try to make a "cpu/gpu pressure" workaround involving a metal plate. If i'm correct, this plate should by the time fix this awful problem, as the processors will both heat up while the ps is running

If that's not going to work, well... maybe i'll opt for a repair service

Everyone can pay as much as they want after they receive their products repaired. Not only from this bad year but I was running some service from 2017

I know people who ask for any help they won't always afford to go into workshop.
Everywhere is an bad time until someone release an antivirus.
About putting pressure on your motherboard I personally don't recommend nobody to do this.
After putting pressure on ic, pads under bga can be lifted.
If there was a simple way I would do.
It takes time to desolder, solder, delid.
Just be careful, don't do more damage then that.

I run full services for repair electronics from my workshop when I am home with live streaming

I think we've spoken before...
Are you from Poland? I think you were between countries when we spoke and I never got round to shipping the ps3 to you.
