hi i need some help (i turned it on after 2 years) whenever I open a game or app the console completely shuts down. It is not freezing the whole system it just powers off when i load game or some app and all LEDs turn off, and after a few seconds the red standby light comes back on.
I already tried:
    • Restore File System
    • Rebuild Database
    • different games/apps
    • launching without HEN
but the issue still happens. anyone knows how to fix it please? thankyou so much

Firmware ver. 4.85

That sounds more like a hardware shutdown than a software issue.

If the whole console powers off when launching a game/app, and the red standby light comes back a few seconds later, the system is likely tripping protection under load.

Things to check:

- PSU issue, especially if it only happens when the console starts pulling more power
- overheating / bad thermal paste / poor heatsink contact
- NEC/TOKIN capacitor issue, depending on the model
- RSX/CELL power rail fault
- HDD/SSD issue is possible, but less likely if the console completely powers off instead of freezing

Since you already tried file system restore, database rebuild, different apps/games, and launching without HEN, I would stop chasing software for now.

If you have access to a UART reader, pull the SYSCON error log. That will usually tell you what direction to go instead of guessing.

Reinstall the firmware and take the opportunity to update it to the latest version as well. If this issue isn't caused by faulty hardware, it's most likely due to a corrupted firmware module. I've experienced this behavior myself during countless tests, where the console would completely shut down with no beep and no lights at all.
