So is a PS3 model CECH-25xx, with motherboard JTP-001, and motherboard serial = 1-882-481-31
probably what am about to say isnt very useful to anyone anymore but mine is also a 3000 kte motherboard but my cell am pretty sure is the old style itsa a CXD2996GB if i remember corecctly i saw no black stuff underneath the thin IHS, so what am trying to say is that if you like the slims better or the 3000 for that matter theres others with the delidable cellI am sad to say that me too got caught by the soldered CELL
what is most intriguing is that I watched lots of delid videos and many CELLs with the "bumps" were succesfully delid, I also saw the video from NSC where he said that the chip had probably melted from overheating... I wish I had saw this thread sooner... my ps3 was also fine with 66ºon cpu and 68º on RSX but I had a ps3 die from Ylod earlier and I knew I had to delid mine if I didn't want it to Ylod again
anyway... I'm off to get a Super Slim ps3 now, I've seen that it is more resistant and the RSX is already delid from factory
BTW my model is CECH3011a and the board had "KTE 001" or something on it i know it started with KTE
What i don't understand is why you tried to delid soldered CELL? I mean i can understand that you didn't know that chip was soldered to IHS and you made a mistake. But the IHS soldered to chip doesn't have overheating problems. So you guy who destroyed their CELL didn't even had overheating problem but you wanted to delid just to be adventurous.

There is a unique key inside CELL... that needs to match with some software inside flash chip (bootldr and metldr)... also with the contents of syscon chip eeprom@sandungas @snkplkn @Cosmic-R
just to clear my mind
is it possible to remove this broken CELL and replace it with another from another broken ps3?
it's a shame because the board is in a condition so good, no oxidation no bad capacitors... I don't want to throw it away![]()

So... the traditional way to fix your problem would be by replacing CELL, SYSCON, and FLASH (because are paired with each other)
--------
Replacing the flash chip is optional... instead of replacing it you could "rebuild" his contents using data from the "donor" flash
The syscon has been hacked recently... but as far i know is not posible to rebuild the areas related with the CELL key
I cant imagine how many hacks could be achieved by modifying syscon software because i dont even understand how it works, lol, but i guess the qa to downgrade is not going to help to hack the PS3 models not compatible with CFW--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps with what we know already about the syscon, etc.... we can patch a way to get to fsm? IF we can get a unit to fsm, then we can qa flag, downgrade, etc without a flasher?
I'm probably speaking pipe dreams here... though... grain of salt..![]()

The problem is in that models is not posible to downgrade lower than 3.56, and the firmware installers doesnt updates the metldr... so are going to be locked with the new metldr anyway
The reverse engineering of syscon software is very promising though, i guess is going to be posible to patch some checks
Can you tell the motherboard model and serial ? (i mean the serial in big numbers in the motherboard in format 1-88?-???-??)
