PS3 CECHG01 PS3 Blu-ray Drive Repair issue (SOLVED)

so, hopefully without needing to do a remarry(?) process with a replacement ps3 disc drive of a different model, i thought i could try and fix the disc drive issue this ps3 i got from ebay (knowing full well it had a defect in it) has. so i took the metal cover off, put infamous 2 in, and waited to see if anything would move..........nothing moved at all, not a single bit. this drive CAN take discs in, and eject it just fine, and the only time i heard anything moving in it was when i got it for the first time and i booted it up and heard movement with the disc drive that lasted for a few minutes. further inspection showed that the IR Sensor cable was unplugged, and when i plugged it back in, the noises stopped

i don't know what this means for the blu-ray drive in question, and nothing on the daughterboard (BMD-001) looked......tweaked in any bad way? So can anyone else with far better knowledge than me please tell me what this means for the unit? is the entire unit straight dead, or is it possible to repair at all?

it feels a bit sad that i didn't get a reply after so long, and if it was a lack of details i missed, or something else, guess that was on me?

so instead, i chose to get a replacement optical pickup (laser) of the same model that this drive uses, took out the old one, put the new one in, made sure the cables were intact and in the right slots, and afterwards, i gave it a test run. it detected the disc (same game), and i saw the disc spinning, and the console ran the game just fine

bar a tiny quirk when the console restarted after i used the "Quit Game" function on the PS Button menu after a long press, it works just fine now
