PS2 Change PS2 Region by Chip Swapping Possible?

As the topic says I'm wondering if it is possible to change the PS2s region by swapping some of the chips on the motherboard. This assumes i'd be swapping matching PS2 motherboard models e.g GH-023 NTSC to GH-023 PAL.

If so what chips would need to be swapped or transplanted?

NOTE: I'm not interested in modchip installation to make a PS2 region free.

UPDATE: From what I've gathered you would need to swap the BIOS chip, Mechacon IC and Mechacon eeprom if it is an external chip (pre SCPH-500xx's). Also some of the service manuals show resistor placement configurations that are region specific.

Also in the PS2 Browser menu where X = accept, O = cancel on non-Asian PS2s and O = accept, X = cancel on Asian PS2s is this setting stored in the BIOS chip.

UPDATE: Yes swapping the BIOS to a non-japanese region does make the X and O buttons like the rest of the world except japan.

What about the DSP does that have any region specific firmware on it? Obviously if it would need to be swapped it probably wouldn't be worth the trouble.

The real question is why though? If you already have 2 different region consoles why would you want to convert 1 of them using the 2nd? You already need 1 of each region to make this work so I fail to see any benefit?
