Is it possible to actually convert a disc based game to a hard drive based game ??|
I use to dump my disc games and run them with CFW2OFW so that i can install them internally in my PS3 and stay on a OFW.
But i started to have problems when i got to Armored Core 4 and For Answer. These 2 don't have an update usable to convert so i can't convert them. I though of using exclusive method from other games like using the demo eboot for exemple but no success as the file structure is different and it's not time limited demo.
While doing some weird file swap and trials using RPCS3 i realized that the eboot from the disc game try to search for other files in the dev_bdvd folder of the console. i then thought that i can maybe edit the eboot file to change the path. so the eboot will go look into hdd0/game instead.
I then launched Ghidra and did some digging and i found this :

So the path actually IS hardcoded in the eboot.
Now im gonna do the same with the eboot of the demo to make sure of this and then i will try to modify the disc eboot to replace the path, resign the eboot and run it on my ps3 to see if it works.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this ????
I pretty much a newbie at this so i'd love to hear from anyone with knowledge.
PS: i know i could just run my ISO from the XMB with webman but i really really want to stay on OFW from long to explain reasons...
