still on my quest to find a way to put hen/cfw only games on xmb and these days i heard someone talking about a way to make cfw2ofw games on hen without the necessity of a update by patching the EBOOT file and these days i actually found a hen only game on cfw2ofw format, can someone give a link to the method of doing it?

Strictly speaking it's not "in cfw2ofw format" (I don't think it's technically correct to call it a format in the first place) but yes, it's possible to convert a disc title to a digital one (likely with compatibility restrictions - I'm personally familiar with the opposite conversion and success rates are far from stellar)

First, you need to open the (extracted, aka JB format) game's PARAM.SFO and change its category from DG to HG

Then you need to decrypt "retail" [disc format] executables (eboot.bin and SELFs if any) and reencrypt them in "npdrm free" [digital format, protected by a systemwide fixed key - ie not needing a license] mode - I can't really help you here because I'm not familiar with the technicalities, and the frontend I use for these conversions (Essse Resigner) doesn't support going this way...

Then, I'm even less familiar with those, but I imagine EDATs if any will need similiar processing (haven't seen any in my disc games)

Finally, throw away everything except the PS3_GAME folder, rename it to the titleID, and upload to dev_hdd0/game/, then rebuild database - it's supposed to show up in the XMB, whether it will work is a rather different question :D

Of course, the lazy and not always applicable but easy and guaranteed solution is to obtain a legal copy of the PSN version of the game... :)

thanks for the anwser,i trying to do this especifcaly for the games that dont even have a psn version or are convertible by normal means(star ocean 4,eternal sonata and many others),this method seems to be pretty complex but still i will take a look and if i manage to do something i anwser back again

I tried doing that method awhile back with MotorStorm Pacific Rift, problem was it just black screened when booting, didn't try any other games however will be interesting if its possible to have every game convertible without needing updates, I like having all my stuff appearing like regular PSN games.

indeed, could you share how you did the processs?im just about to fill my hd up so i could try for you since i have a dozen of non-convertible bd games here and i dont know how to search the methods of messing with the eboot and param files myself.

I followed this (its not in english but its pretty straight forward what to do):

Which is pretty much what Ryccardo was saying about changing the PARAM.SFO etc

thank you very much,im working by now but when i go home i put it to a test,do you have any game you would like me to try?just a little payback for the favor.

Honestly I'd be interested in any games that have no updates you manage to get working, its odd that supposedly some games work and some don't.

Also, another method I've read is, if a game has a demo on PSN, you can take the PARAM.SFO from that and inject it into the "full game", to make it work. Haven't tried that though, but maybe I should have tried that with Pacific Rift since it does have a demo...

took a look at it,the method in question still seems to need a update but the way that the game is build into the xmb is diferent and by the look of it seems its a faster method of doing a cfw2ofw method without using the make pkg .bat but i maybe wrong and did not pay enough attention,if you could take a better look and show how i would be thankful.

i followed the ocfw2ofw guide on motorstorm pacific rift's exclusive method of conversion into a pkg, and it works

Is there a way to forcely convert a game that has no updates ? CFW2OFW and PS3GameConvert don't allow this, but i'm sure there are other apps out there . Just want to test because some games might actually work !
